Viewers believe judges Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas hinted at the dance-off result before Lewis Cope was unexpectedly eliminated, revealing their decision beforehand.
Viewers were shocked when Billy Elliot’s actor was eliminated from the competition on Sunday, and many felt it was the most unfair dismissal the show had ever seen.
Adam Thomas, the 30-year-old actor from Emmerdale, and his dance partner Katya Jones, 36, were strong contenders to win the competition and consistently scored the highest marks from the judges.
Strictly Come Dancing fans were surprised to see Lewis in the dance-off alongside Amber Davies, 29, and her partner Nikita Kuzmin, 27.
After Katya and Lewis performed their dance-off, many viewers commented on what they considered unusual behavior from judges Shirley and Motsi.
As the pair finished their performance, two women on the left side of the screen appeared upset, both with their heads in their hands.

A video is going viral on X, and one viewer’s comment perfectly captures the feeling: ‘You can tell a lot from Motsi and Shirley’s reaction during Lewis’ dance-off.’
Other penned underneath the clip: ‘They both clearly did not want to vote…’,
As a longtime observer of dance competitions, let me tell you, I was genuinely moved watching Shirley. She was practically speechless, and I even saw a tear well up! It really got me thinking – shouldn’t there be a rule in place? When we see dance-offs with couples performing at such a high level, and the scores are incredibly close, if all the judges unanimously agree, shouldn’t we just skip the elimination and let everyone continue? It would acknowledge the talent and avoid unnecessarily sending a deserving couple home.
‘Farce of a show. It’s about popularity, not ability.’
Katya was visibly upset on Monday’s ‘It Takes Two,’ revealing she feels responsible for her and Lewis being eliminated from the show – a departure that many viewers were angry about.
Honestly, it just breaks my heart when she talks about it. She was practically falling apart, saying how she wishes she’d handled things differently for him. It’s like, he always just tried to give her what she wanted, and it wasn’t just this one time, you know? He always did his best to please her, and she finally realized that maybe she didn’t give him the best guidance. It’s just…so sad to hear her admit it.
Honestly, it was incredible. Every single week, the pressure was on – we had to deliver these amazing routines, and he just…did. I still can’t wrap my head around how he managed it, week after week, flawlessly. It was like magic, seriously. He just did it, and it was breathtaking to watch.
Lewis put an arm around her as he sweetly insisted: ‘Because of you!’

Even though Lewis and Amber both did well during Musicals week and were near the top of the rankings, they had to perform again to secure a spot in the semi-finals next week.
Amber and Nikita earned a score of 40 on Saturday while dancing the Charleston to “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ The Boat” from the musical Guys and Dolls. They were followed by Lewis and Katya, who performed a Salsa to “Dance at the Gym” from West Side Story.
Judge Shirley expressed her amazement at the dance-off, saying she was lost for words. She reminded the contestants that they needed to earn their spot in the semi-finals, praised everyone’s performance, and wished the best dancer good luck.
Motsi had the final say, and chose to send Amber and Nikita to the semi-final. This happened after the other three judges had already voted for the Love Island star.
Viewers were upset with the results of the dance competition, believing Lewis should have won the championship.
They wrote on X: ‘I’m so heart broken for Katya, I really thought she’d win it this year’;
As a huge fan of joyful movement and authentic connection, I was truly heartbroken by the results of the latest season. Honestly, seeing Lewis and Katya’s partnership end felt like losing a little bit of sunshine. It just didn’t sit right with me – Lewis absolutely deserved a spot in the finale, and it’s such a shame we won’t get to see them dance together anymore. It felt unfair, and left me feeling really disappointed for them both.
‘So gutted. Lewis was incredible, he really didn’t deserve to go home this early’.
Lewis shared with host Tess Daly that his experience on the show exceeded all expectations. He described it as ‘more than I could have ever wished for’.
At the start, if anyone had told me I’d last 11 weeks on the show, I would have been thrilled and accepted immediately.
Thank you to everyone involved with the show for creating such a wonderful and supportive environment where people can be themselves, grow, and learn. This experience has been incredible and something I’ll cherish forever, and I especially want to thank Katya – I believe this is all thanks to her.
You’ve been the perfect friend and teacher – everything I could have asked for, and I can’t imagine going through this with anyone else. Thank you so much.
Katya shared with Lewis that she believes he’s created many iconic moments on Strictly Come Dancing, and will be remembered as one of the best celebrity contestants—and a truly wonderful person.
‘Kind and genuine people still exist – what a gentleman you are, so humble and so kind.

It was wonderful seeing you and sharing your incredible talent with everyone. Thank you for being such a kind and lovely person.
Lewis shared with Tess that the support he’s received on the show means the world to him, saying, ‘It’s everything, really. What’s life without other people?’
This show has a wonderful way of connecting people, and I’ve seen that happen with my own family. It really seems to brighten everyone’s spirits. For us, it’s become a tradition – four generations gather every Saturday night, and it’s especially heartwarming to see my grandmother, Nana Dot, enjoying it with a smile.
We’ve had young boys reach out, saying they never thought dancing was something they could do. Now they’ve started, and they’re sending us videos of themselves. It’s incredibly rewarding – even changing just one person’s life in that way makes it all worthwhile.
