As someone who has closely followed the recent developments surrounding the Strictly Come Dancing scandal, I cannot help but be deeply concerned and saddened by the experiences shared by former contestants like Zara McDermott. Her heartfelt Instagram post paints a picture of an idyllic dream come true turned sour within the confines of the training room.

Anton Du Beke, a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, has stopped following Graziano Di Prima on social media, but he continues to support Giovanni Pernice during the misconduct allegations.

Last week, Graziano Di Prima, a professional dancer aged 30, was let go from the show following allegations that he physically harmed his celebrity partner Zara McDermott, 27, during practice sessions. Allegedly, he struck and kicked her during rehearsals.

A few weeks ago, an investigation was initiated by the BBC following allegations of inappropriate conduct made against Giovanni Pernice, 33, by Amanda Abbington, 50, and two other ex-celebrity partners. As a result, Pernice was temporarily suspended from his role during this time.

After the recent turn of events, I’ve noticed that I, as a dedicated follower, have unwittingly unfollowed Graziano on Instagram, despite still keeping Anton in my feed.

Last month, it was revealed that Anton had strongly supported Giovanni following his departure from Strictly Come Dancing due to the BBC’s investigation into serious misconduct allegations.

Starting in June and running through July, the dynamic duo, Giovanni and Anton, will team up for a live performance titled “Giovanni and Anton Together: The Live Tour.” Rehearsals for this exciting event kicked off on Monday.

On Instagram Stories, Giovanni shared a video featuring the duo in a warm embrace. The related promotional image highlights their strong friendship.

Anton began by expressing, “I really enjoy the first day of rehearsals. The second day, not as much,” and Giovanni chuckled in response.

With a smile on his face and seeming upbeat, Giovanni remarked, “We need to recall every detail from Day One. It’s great to be back on the road again.”

On Taylor, a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, was identified as a potential suspect on Tuesday in connection with accusations of misconduct involving abuse and bullying that have cast a shadow over the program.

I can’t contain my excitement as I read The Sun’s latest scoop! It seems yet another ex-dance pro from the BBC series is under investigation. Amazing, isn’t it? I can barely believe it!

A source told the publication: ‘A professional’s name has come up, alongside Giovanni and Graziano.

Based on my personal perspective and experience, it seems that this individual has been removed from the production but remains under investigation. Ongoing discussions are taking place and there are still several people who need to be questioned further. This could indicate that there is some level of suspicion surrounding his involvement in a situation or incident related to the show. It’s important to remember that being named as a person of interest does not necessarily mean that any wrongdoing has been definitively proven, but rather that investigators are seeking more information and clarification. The complexities of life often bring unexpected twists and turns, and this situation is a reminder of the importance of remaining open-minded and allowing due process to unfold.

I’ve come across new information and I’m compiling a file myself, which will later be presented to the BBC. It seems that there’s a larger problem emerging regarding the behavior of certain professionals during their training.

‘And the more people who come forward, the clearer the picture is becoming.’

The BBC has been contacted by TopMob for comment.

On Taylor (or any given day), the organizers of Strictly revealed their intent to bring on chaperones during training and hire two additional welfare producers, following the unexpected termination of Graziano from the program.

Based on my experiences working behind the scenes of various productions, I believe the announcement made by the management of Strictly Come Dancing about introducing “additional steps to strengthen welfare and support” is a positive move. As someone who has seen firsthand the physical and emotional demands that go into putting together a live television show, I understand the importance of ensuring that all cast and crew members feel valued, safe, and well-supported. It’s essential that everyone involved in the production can focus on their roles without worrying about their wellbeing or safety. These new measures will likely include things like mental health resources, increased communication channels, and stricter protocols for working hours and conditions. Overall, I think this is a step in the right direction for creating a more inclusive and compassionate work environment.

In simpler terms, the corporation acknowledged that issues raised more recently have primarily revolved around training and preparation. The steps we’re unveiling now aim to resolve those matters.

A production team member will now attend training room rehearsals with celebrities and dancers, ensuring a constant presence. Additionally, there’s enhanced assistance provided for both famous contestants and skilled performers.

Two new roles will be created: a Celebrity Well-being Coordinator and a Dance Troupe Well-being Coordinator, who will take on additional responsibilities. Furthermore, our production team and staff will receive extra instruction to enhance their skills.

Kate Phillips, BBC’s Head of Unscripted Programming, stated: “We understand that our shows have been enjoyable for most participants. However, if concerns arise or we learn about unacceptable conduct, we will address these matters promptly.”

Based on my extensive experience in theater production, I have noticed that concerns often revolve around training and rehearsals. These aspects are crucial to ensure a successful show, yet they can also be sources of stress and anxiety for everyone involved.

Within hours, Zara, a previous contestant on Love Island, spoke out for the first time regarding the scandal.

On Taylor’s Instagram post on a recent Tuesday, she shared that being part of Strictly was an incredible realization of her dreams, yet, within the training room with Graziano, there were certain occurrences that left her deeply distressed.

Zara expressed her belief that she should share some thoughts on the recent news articles. “Strictly is not only one of the most enchanting shows on television for me, but it’s been a childhood dream to be a part of it,” she added.

As a lifestyle expert reflecting on my personal experience, when I received the invitation to join the show as a contestant, it brought me back to my childhood dreams. I knew full well the intensity and dedication required for Strictly Come Dancing. Consequently, I threw myself into the experience wholeheartedly.

‘I am a resilient person and I was fully prepared to put in whatever it took.’

In many ways, my time on Strictly surpassed all my dreams. The entire production crew, those working behind the scenes, and my fellow contestants were simply wonderful to work with.

Yet in the training room, I had a vastly dissimilar encounter. There have been allegations concerning my conduct on the program, and several people witnessed certain occurrences. Additionally, there exist disturbing video footage of specific incidents.

Zara explained that she didn’t report the incidents at the time as she was ‘scared’ of backlash.

During the investigation into professional dancer Giovanni, it was the junior production team members who stepped forward to disclose what they had observed.

In my journey as a lifestyle coach, I’ve grappled with the apprehension of sharing deeply personal experiences with the world. The thought of potential criticism from the public weighed heavily on me. I couldn’t help but worry about the impact on my future. And let’s be honest, the fear of victim shaming is a real concern that kept me awake at night.

After many heartfelt discussions with my dear ones, I’ve found the courage to tackle my anxieties. When the BBC requested that I share my experiences on their program, I spoke openly and honestly about my time there.

In today’s world, the norms of our community often hinder individuals from expressing their views openly, even as social media amplifies various perspectives. From my experience producing numerous documentaries, this trend has been particularly noticeable among women.

I’m grateful to the BBC and BBC Studios for their quick response and exceptional assistance. A big thank you also goes out to all those who have contacted me; your kindness is deeply appreciated. Warmest regards, Zara.
