Lauren Oakley, a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, became emotional on Monday’s episode of It Takes Two. The moving message from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s family after he was eliminated from the show brought her to tears.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by the dynamics of competition! It was a real surprise to see 53-year-old ex-Chelsea player facing elimination alongside Amber Davies – especially considering they were both at the top of the leaderboard this week. It just goes to show, even high scores aren’t always enough to guarantee safety!
Jimmy and his dance partner Lauren received a score of 30 for their American Smooth, performed to Prince’s “Purple Rain.” Amber and Nikita Kuzmin earned 33 points for their Cha Cha, set to Ariana Grande’s “Break Free.”
The judges – Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Beke – all agreed to let Amber continue on the show after her latest performance.
When Jimmy and Lauren were on the show’s spin-off, they became very upset while watching a heartfelt video message from his wife, Natalie, and their three daughters, which was played after he left.
Natalie said she and her family were incredibly impressed with her partner’s performance on Strictly, adding that he’d amazed them each week.

Oh my gosh, his daughter Lauren said the sweetest thing! She was just beaming with pride, saying how amazing it is that he built everything from the ground up. And then she said ‘We can’t wait to keep dancing with you!’ – it was SO cute and just melted my heart. Seriously, a perfect family moment and I’m living for it!
Miah, his other child, chimed in, thanking her dad for trying something new for them and calling him amazing. Their youngest daughter, Khloe, simply said, “Good job, Daddy!”
Natalie concluded her message by saying, ‘Lauren, thank you for helping Jimmy show his fun side.’
The moment left Strictly professional dancer Lauren in tears, and she admitted it was already making her emotional.
Jimmy shared that his family found his time on the show very moving. He said they’ve been incredibly supportive and are really pleased for him.
They were understandably upset after Saturday, but also incredibly proud. It’s a time for family to come together, and seeing them and their support is just… I’m speechless.
Jimmy shared that he felt frustrated and angry because he kept making the same mistake while practicing for his performance.
Jimmy confessed that he ‘complicates things’ every time he tries to learn the steps.

He explained that he usually starts off well, but after a few attempts, he tends to overthink things and make them more complicated. This leads to frustration and anger with himself.
I’m working through something, but I haven’t quite figured it out yet. It’s a mental hurdle I need to overcome.

‘I think it’s just because it’s not natural, it’s not a day-to-day thing, it’s a new discipline.
I really notice a change in myself when things go wrong. I get visibly upset and just beat myself up over it, honestly. It’s like I can see the disappointment on my face and feel my whole attitude shift.
Jimmy, who had his best performance of the competition on Saturday, said he thoroughly enjoyed his time on the show after being eliminated.
He continued by saying that all anyone can do is give their best performance, and ultimately it’s up to the audience to decide what happens.
‘I was actually quite happy to dance again because I wanted to do better than my previous one.
Oh my gosh, I was absolutely devastated to hear he was leaving! His dance partner, Lauren, said she was ‘gutted,’ and honestly, same! She said they had the best time together, and she’s so incredibly proud of how much he’s improved. It just breaks my heart, but she really highlighted how far he’s come, and it’s so sweet to hear her say that about him!
This shows that anyone can learn to dance with dedication. It’s amazing because he’s a football player, and he danced beautifully!
I’ve truly enjoyed teaching you and I’m incredibly proud of everything you’ve accomplished. You’ve been a wonderful student!
This news follows the announcement that Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be leaving the show when the current season finishes.
Claudia, 53, expressed her gratitude for all the lovely messages they’ve received. She announced that there are still eight weeks left in the show, and they’ll be crowning a champion at the end.
Tess, 56, said they’re excited to continue watching the show with viewers and all of the wonderful couples on it.
Strictly Come Dancing is back on BBC One this Saturday, November 1st at 6:35pm with a spooky Halloween special featuring the ten remaining couples.
