Strictly Come Dancing plunged into turmoil after second star of the series quits – weeks after Thomas Skinner’s appearance on the show came under fire

Last night’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing was thrown into chaos when a prominent contestant had to withdraw due to a severe injury suffered during practice.

Dani Dyer, 29, a former star of Love Island, was devastated to have to withdraw from a dance competition after breaking her ankle in practice.

Danny Dyer’s daughter, Ms. Dyer, who is married to footballer Jarrod Bowen, shared that she injured herself during a rehearsal on Friday, explaining she ‘landed funny’ after a fall.

I initially thought I just sprained my foot, but it got much worse over the weekend. An MRI scan yesterday revealed I actually fractured my ankle.

It turns out dancing on a broken bone wasn’t a good idea! The doctors have told me I can’t dance, so unfortunately I have to withdraw from the show.

‘To say I’m heartbroken is the biggest understatement,’

Saturday’s launch show revealed that the reality star would be dancing with professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin, 27. This announcement was made before her recent accident, as the show was filmed beforehand.

This Saturday, she’ll be performing a quickstep in the first live show, competing against other celebrities.

Ms. Dyer said she’ll really miss dancing with Nikita, but she’s looking forward to watching and supporting all the other couples.

Just days ago, the mother-of-three said: ‘I’m absolutely petrified about dancing live.’

This latest departure puts even more strain on the Strictly Come Dancing team, following actor Kristian Nairn’s recent exit due to health concerns.

Game of Thrones actor, 49, has announced he’s leaving this season of Strictly Come Dancing. He said he was really excited to participate and is very sorry to let down viewers who were hoping to see him dance.

‘Thank you all for your support and I will be back on my feet very soon, in every sense.’

Fans have criticized Lewis Cope, the actor replacing the previous dancer, due to his significant background in dance.

The actor previously performed in the West End production of Billy Elliot and was a finalist on Sky’s Got To Dance in 2013, when he was 18 years old.

However, Mr Cope’s Strictly partner, Katya Jones, insists his background is actually a ‘hindrance’.

She explained to the Radio Times that everyone knows Lewis is a talented mover, and she’s excited to teach him ballroom dancing. However, she added that it’s more challenging to correct existing skills than to teach someone something completely new.

In reply to the criticism, Mr Cope also said: ‘I haven’t worn a pair of tap shoes in17 years.’

Thomas Skinner, known from The Apprentice and currently partnered with Amy Dowden on Strictly Come Dancing, recently faced public scrutiny after admitting to infidelity. He confessed to cheating on his wife, Sinead, just weeks after they married in 2022.

He claimed the affair was a ‘moment of madness’ that saw him almost ‘ruin his life’.

It wasn’t immediately known last night if the BBC intends to find a replacement for Ms. Dyer before the first live shows this weekend.

Sarah James, an executive producer at BBC Studios, praised injured contestant Dani. She said Dani brought incredible energy and happiness to Strictly, and her dance partnership with Nikita was beginning brilliantly.

The entire show is heartbroken that she can’t continue competing. We’re sending her our love and wishing her a quick recovery, and we hope she’ll be back dancing with us soon.

During the 2019 competition, Jamie Laing, another reality TV personality, had to withdraw after getting injured the week before the first live show.

Kelvin Fletcher, an actor from the TV show Emmerdale, stepped in as a late replacement and ultimately won the competition with his dance partner, Oti Mabuse.
