Strictly Come Dancing: Katya Jones and Wynne Evans issue apology for “messing around” at end of show
As a seasoned gamer and longtime enthusiast of reality TV shows like Strictly Come Dancing, I must say that the recent viral clips featuring Wynne Evans and Katya Jones have left me quite perplexed. While I’ve seen my fair share of odd moments on reality TV, this one seems to stand out due to its apparent awkwardness.
Two popular videos from episode 7 of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ starring Wynne Evans and Katya Jones have become widely shared online. Subsequently, this dance pair has released a brief video message of apology, which some users on social platforms find peculiar.
Following the conclusion of the seventh episode of Strictly Come Dancing, two brief clips featuring Wynne and Katya sparked interest among viewers. One video suggested that the radio host may have touched his professional dance partner in a manner that made her uneasy. In the second video, Wynne extended both hands for a double high five, to which Katya appeared to give him a reluctant response, rolling her eyes and turning away without reciprocating the gesture.
Hey gaming community, I just wanted to hop on here and clear something up. Those funny clips we shared got quite a reaction from you all, and for that, I’m sorry if it caught some of you off guard. To set the record straight, it was all in good fun between us – just a little inside joke. We didn’t mean to upset or disappoint anyone, so again, my sincere apologies if we did. Thanks for understanding!

An unusual incident transpired on #Strictly tonight involving Wynne and Katya. They’ve now posted a video expressing their apologies (and it’s quite peculiar to put it mildly), following the circulation of these two videos online this evening, causing some unease.

Strictly Come Dancing viewers react to the apology video on social media
Supporters of Strictly Come Dancing expressed their opinions about recent events on social media platforms, largely agreeing that the situation was strange and awkward. Many comments targeted Wynne Evans’ actions specifically.
One individual using the platform X, known as @Blowpobbs, responded to the apology by posting a comment under the high-five video, saying, “In my opinion, the part where she dismisses his high five and gives him a disapproving look is certainly not staged.
A different user of X posted a comment about both Katya Jones’ apology video and another post from her on Instagram, as stated by @slinehan1. They expressed that the video and Katya’s explanations on Instagram and Twitter seem insincere. Despite hoping they are mistaken, they suggested that Katya might be compelled to claim it was a joke in order to prevent further scandals.
Another comment pointed out that although they understood the high-five video as a joke, they found the second clip confusing as a joke. As @ImdIrx explained, “It’s understandable with the second clip, but there was no humor in the first one.
Upon reviewing all the videos, it’s tough to ignore the unusual aspects surrounding this entire scenario, and it seems viewers are picking up on it too. As many users of X pointed out, it’s challenging to believe that they were merely fooling around. Moreover, there’s an uncanny feel to the apology, although Wynne himself appears to be addressing the overlooked high five incident in a subsequent post. Frankly, the apology seems misplaced under these circumstances, but we might be reading too much into it. We’ll have to keep an eye out for any further developments from these clips and this apology.
Did you notice these moments upon viewing? Are you surprised by the apology video?
