Strictly Come Dancing fans fume as partners for the new series of the BBC show are leaked hours before its official launch episode
As a dedicated Strictly Come Dancing fan with over two decades of watching under my belt, I must say this year’s partnership leak has left me quite disheartened. The anticipation of who will dance with whom is part of the show’s charm, and to have it spoiled before the launch episode is a real buzzkill.
Fans of “Strictly Come Dancing” became upset when the pairings for this season’s broadcast on BBC were accidentally revealed a few hours prior to the premiere episode.
This weekend, as the dance show makes a comeback on Saturday evening, it celebrates its 20-year milestone – its 22nd season on British television.
On Saturday, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will host the debut episode of Strictly Come Dancing, where professional dancers will showcase their skills, along with the unveiling of the participating couples for this year.
Yet, fans found themselves enraged as a spoiler account disclosed all the forthcoming partnerships on social media mere hours prior to the episode’s airing.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must admit that the recent revelation about the pairings didn’t sit too comfortably with many dance fans. They’ve expressed their disappointment, even anger, over some of the matches, particularly regarding one dancer being coupled with what they perceive as less-than-stellar partners.
Fans who once followed Twitter, now expressed their disappointment in a post: ‘Disappointed that [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], my top two favorite male dancers, are not paired together’; or simply, ‘Fans lament the fact that they didn’t team up their preferred male dancers, [REDACTED] and [REDACTED].’
Couldn’t it be nice if they found a suitable actor for [REDACTED], someone of good quality? It seems like the producers may not be giving her the opportunities she deserves.
For the past three years, the underprivileged contestant has consistently placed 12th, and once more, she was given a subpar competitor (I appreciate her efforts, but honestly, she’s not likely to excel significantly).
‘Oh, what a shame, I really really wanted [REDACTED] to be with [REDACTED]!!!!!’
One of the professionals not paired with a celebrity partner this year is Kai Widdrington.
On Saturday, Kai finally spoke up after he was removed from the primary performance roster for the 20th anniversary season’s main event.
The dancer, who made it all the way to Blackpool last year with his partner Angela Rippon, has opened up about his disappointment to not be part of a celebrity pairing.
In a heartfelt conversation with the Daily Star, I confessed, “I yearned to be that shining star amidst the crowd this season. Alas, fate had other plans; it wasn’t my time to bask in the limelight this round. Tragically, only one could hold the spotlight, and it wasn’t me.
‘Some of us don’t get partners and that’s the way it is. Let’s see what happens next year. Hopefully I’ll get one then.’
Due to the cloud of controversy surrounding the show, its negative atmosphere has discouraged many popular female celebrities from participating.
For the first time, there are more men (nine) than women (six) in the lineup.
Despite acknowledging that he is still eager, Kai expressed his excitement about participating in this year’s remarkable series.
He added: ‘We have been filming a lot of the group routines. There are some amazing ones. We have worked really hard through the summer to get them ready for the series. One of the ones I feature in is very funny.’
Previous month, followers of Strictly expressed their disapproval, claiming the decision-makers had made an unfortunate choice when news broke out about Kai not having a dance partner.
This year, it’s unfortunate that Kai finds himself in a challenging position, but on the flip side, Neil Jones, another professional dancer, is thrilled to be partnering with a celebrity. Since he joined the show in 2016, he has only had two dance partners prior to this.
At the NTAs, TopMob expressed his enthusiasm by saying, “I genuinely adore every aspect of this show. I’m the kind of person who enjoys backing my fellow professionals. To me, being there for the entire show means supporting everyone throughout it.
“For the past twenty years, Strictly has continually evolved, leaving me pondering ways to make it even better each season.
Year after year, they grow increasingly powerful and their exceptional support system only adds to this strength. Frankly, I find it utterly delightful.
He added: ‘I’m always saying I’ll be back as long as you want me and as long as my body can hold.’
