Strictly Come Dancing confirm Love Island star Tasha Ghouri as the sixth celebrity

Strictly Come Dancing confirm Love Island star Tasha Ghouri as the sixth celebrity

As a passionate fan of Strictly Come Dancing, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of admiration when I learned about the diverse and inspiring lineup for the 20th series. From the moment Chris McCausland, the first celebrity contestant, announced his participation on This Morning, I knew we were in for a special season.

In the upcoming 2024 season of Strictly Come Dancing, it has been verified that the sixth star is Tasha Ghouri, a captivating figure from the popular show Love Island.

As a proud wearer of a cochlear implant, I made history by being the very first Love Island contestant to have this remarkable device, which was surgically placed in me at the age of just five years old.

The model is passionate about raising awareness for the deaf community.

2022 saw her make an appearance on Love Island on ITV, and ever since, she’s garnered a significant fanbase totaling more than 2.2 million followers across various social media platforms.

Tasha has worked with Number 10 Downing Street, The Department of Education and MED-AL to champion issues close to her heart. She is a published author with her debut novel ‘Hits Different’ and has her own podcast, ‘Superpowers with Tasha’.

On the KISS FM Breakfast Show on Wednesday, Tasha excitedly exclaimed, “I need to pinch myself! I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that I’ll be dancing on Strictly Come Dancing!”

“Ever since I was young, I’ve been a devoted fan of this show, as it holds a special place in the Ghouri household. Now, having this opportunity feels like a dream come true! I’m confident that this experience will be unforgettable, and I aim to make everyone proud while dancing.”

Despite the recent controversy surrounding the arrival of Tasha, a professional dancer, the team finds itself drawn into another heated argument or disagreement.

It came to light that the ex-Love Island contestant, aged 25, who is also known for her dancing abilities (having participated in significant dance competitions), and being a familiar face in music videos, has raised some worries about whether she might gain an edge over her fellow celebrity participants due to these experiences.

In last year’s competition, there were allegations suggesting that Layton Williams, a seasoned West End actor with a strong dance background, may have had an unfair advantage over his fellow competitors.

Tasha’s involvement in the BBC One program might also stir up debate, considering she has been dancing since she was five years old and has participated in various competitions.

It was mentioned by someone familiar with the production that Tasha’s casting has sparked some surprise. Given her background as both a professional dancer and a reality TV personality and model, she seems exceptionally skilled for the show, which has led to speculation.

Tasha is definitely not a beginner, and she’s likely to outperform her fellow actors even before the training begins.

There seems to be a sense that it’s somewhat unjust for her to participate in Strictly, considering the impact on everyone else who are also competing, particularly those with no prior dance experience.

Tasha was the initial Love Island contestant to feature on the program wearing a cochlear implant, an aid she received at age five.

As a lifestyle expert, I can share a personal story that resonates with me. When I was just one year old, my parents discovered that I was deaf. Growing up, I spent countless hours in speech therapy to help me find my voice. But through determination and resilience, I’ve managed to live a fulfilling life, proving that hearing or not shouldn’t hold anyone back from achieving their dreams.

She says the disability has become her ‘superpower’ and before going on Love Island vowed to become an inspiration to the deaf community, like her idol, former Strictly champion Rose Ayling-Ellis.

In June 2022, Tasha shared with TopMob that she admires Rose deeply due to her incredible performance on Strictly Come Dancing. Rose served as an inspiring role model for Tasha, not only representing her personally but also the deaf community. Tasha was moved by the powerful message Rose conveyed.

Strictly is gradually revealing its celebrity lineup for the 20th series throughout the week, but on Tuesday evening, it seemed that a complete leak of the star-studded cast had occurred.

Chris McCausland, JB Gill, Toyah Wilcox, Punam Krishnan, Wynne Evans, and Tasha are already set to join the lineup.

In a simple and conversational style, here’s how I would rephrase it:

2021 marked the debut of live signing at the dance competition, an innovation made significant by the participation of deaf EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, who danced her way to winning the glitterball trophy with partner Giovanni Pearce that year.

46-year-old Chris, who is both a comedian and an actor on CBeebies, went blind at the age of 22 as a result of a genetic disorder called Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Later on This Morning JLS star JB Gill was the second celeb confirmed.

Initially, the band JLS became well-known during the fifth season of The X Factor, and they ended up as the second place finalists. The lead vocalist was among them.

Prior to disbanding in 2013, the band had already put out several albums. At that point in time, it was believed that each of its members had a net worth of approximately £6 million.

JB is continuing the path previously taken by his bandmate, Aston Merrygold, who was dismissed in the 10th spot during the 2017 season.

The star also has history with Strictly, winning the Christmas Special of the BBC One dancing show back in 2012, performing the Jive with Ola Jordan.

Punam Krishnan is an NHS GP and is one of the resident doctors on the BBC’s Morning Live.

Residing in Scotland, she frequently tackles health issues for both television programs and newspapers, while also penning a children’s book.

Wynne Evans is widely recognized for his exceptional operatic talents. Over the course of his illustrious 25-year career, he’s achieved two top-charting classical music albums, served as a leading artist at many renowned opera houses worldwide, and graced the stage over 200 times at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London.

In a conversation with Vernon Kay on BBC Radio 2, I shared that I was astonished since it felt like playing secret agent games. Receiving a codename, auditioning, and mingling with celebrities has become my absolute favorite experience.

“I’m eagerly anticipating the waltz, the timeless dance from the ballroom. With my background in opera, I believe it will be a perfect fit for me.”

As a diehard admirer of Toyah Willcox, it’s mind-blowing to contemplate the incredible breadth of her artistic achievements! With thirteen top 40 singles under her belt, she’s graced the charts consistently. Her discography boasts an impressive twenty-five albums that I’ve loved collecting. Beyond music, Toyah has penned not one but two captivating books that have added depth to my understanding of her creativity. On the stage, she’s dazzled audiences in over forty plays, and on the silver screen, she’s starred in more than twenty films. To top it off, she’s hosted numerous television programs, further showcasing her versatility as an artist! It’s awe-inspiring to witness such a multifaceted talent like Toyah Willcox!

She fronted the eponymous band Toyah before branching out as a solo artist in the mid-1980s.

In the year 2018, Toyah was honored with the Companionship for Extraordinary Achievements in Music, Drama, Performance, and Media from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts by Paul McCartney.

Toyah appeared in the Radio 2 studio with Vernon and admitted she has been bursting to let the news slip, especially after performing at Glastonbury in June, saying the show will top off what has been an incredible year for her.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve landed a role on the beloved soap opera, EastEnders, following my impressive performance in last year’s Christmas special, where I play Jay Brown.

According to reports, DIY SOS star Nick Knowles, who’s now 61 years old, is said to be taking part in some dance performances and making appearances on popular TV shows this year.

After months of talks with bosses, sources claim he is ‘willing to give anything a crack’.

A source told The Sun: ‘Nick has always loved Strictly and he is so excited.
