As a longtime fan of the enchanting world of ballroom dancing, I eagerly anticipate the Strictly Blackpool Special this weekend! Having grown up in the bustling heart of Liverpool, my connection to the North West is strong, and Blackpool holds a special place in my heart.
As a devoted fan, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Blackpool special episode of Strictly Come Dancing, set to air on BBC1 this coming Saturday evening.
Now, the dance routines for the performance are unveiled, as we venture into the Tower Ballroom. The eight remaining pairs aim to give their best, in an effort to captivate everyone.
During Blackpool week, Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe will ignite the floor with a fiery Salsa performance set to Don’t Leave Me This Way by Thelma Houston. Meanwhile, Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola will charm us with their Couples’ Choice routine, dancing gracefully to Padam Padam by Kylie Minogue.
Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Skorjanec will infuse emotion into a Paso Doble set to the song “Torn” by Nathan Lanier, while Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell will perform the American Smooth dance routine to “Jump” by Paul Anka.
Jamies Borthwick and Michelles Tsiakkas are set to liven up the ballroom, dancing a jive rhythm to the tune of “The Ketchup Song (Aserejé)” by Las Ketchup.
JB Gill and Lauren Oakley will perform a Quickstep to Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley.
Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał plan to inject some playful energy with a Cha Cha routine for the song “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred, while Wynne Evans and Katya Jones will deliver an energetic Charleston performance to the piece “5. Les Toréadors” from Carmen Suite No. 1: 5, composed by Georges Bizet.
In the meantime, it’s the renowned Pet Shop Boys who will be putting on a special performance at Blackpool.
Come Saturday evening, they’ll kick off the performance with a blend of their most popular songs as part of an opening act. The Strictly professional dancers will be there to join them in this initial dance number.
As your trusted lifestyle guide, I’m excited to share that this coming Sunday evening, you’ll get to witness them grace the stage with their fresh hit single titled “All The Young Dudes” during the Results Show!
Look forward to witnessing the much-awaited Argentine Tango dance act by skilled performers, taking place at the illustrious Tower Ballroom in Blackpool, with a captivating 1940s hotel backdrop.
Under the direction of Matt Flint, Leandro Palou, and Maria Tsiatsiani, the performance is set to highlight our skilled main dancers as well as additional backup dancers.
To the seductive rhythm of Tango Jalousie, the show is prepared to envelop spectators in an era of classic elegance and deep emotion.
Ahead of the show some of the celebrities have spoken about their memories of Blackpool.
47-year-old comedian Chris shared: “As a child, we frequently visited Blackpool. It holds numerous fond memories for me, like the seafront, beach, and amusement parks. I never dared to ride rollercoasters during those times.
I was frightened by them when I could observe them, but since I can no longer see them, I don’t feel concerned and will proceed with whatever comes my way.
Nostalgic memories of the arcades from the ’90s, where I spent a considerable amount of time. I had a soft spot for candy sticks called rock and enjoyed the thrill of donkey rides back then.
JLS star JB, 37, added: ‘I remember going to lots of different seaside towns with my Great Aunt.
Every adventure, whether it was camping or summer trips, found us exploring new locales from Skegness to Grimsby. And wherever we ventured, there was this tradition – the purchase of a rock candy stick as a souvenir. I’d always try to persuade my dear Great Aunt that I could devour an entire stick of rock in one go!
When asked about the significance of performing at Blackpool for Pete, he expressed that it was an experience he desired to cherish alongside Jowita, as she has greatly contributed to his life, and it holds equal importance for her as well.
I’m thrilled about the prospect of repaying that kindness, and it’s wonderful that we might be able to dance there side by side, considering all the challenges we’ve faced.
In all, 99 famous personalities and 52 skilled dancers have taken to the stage of the renowned Tower Ballroom in Blackpool, with a panel of 9 esteemed judges sitting at their judging stations.
There have been 107 ‘tens’ awarded by the Strictly judges in Blackpool.
