Strictly between us, my working-class roots give me the jitters, reveals Vicky Pattison

Being on Strictly Come Dancing would be nerve-wracking for anyone, even celebrities who are used to being in the public eye.

It’s not surprising that Vicky Pattison is a little nervous and worried about making mistakes.

The reality TV star, known for winning ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ in 2015 and previously appearing on MTV’s ‘Geordie Shore,’ has revealed she felt very anxious while competing on this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

She seemed disheartened after receiving criticism for her Charleston on Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing, and the judges only gave it a score of 25.

She believes her anxieties stem from her upbringing, but many past contestants on the show, regardless of their background, have experienced similar worries.

‘I’m feeling a lot of anxiety about Strictly,’ said Ms Pattison, 37.

I realize I should be happy just to be considered for opportunities like this – I definitely didn’t feel this way when I was on ‘I’m A Celebrity.’

It could be feeling like a fraud, or perhaps a sense of not deserving success because of where I come from. It might even just be a lack of self-confidence that’s been there for a long time.

Kelly Pattison, currently hosting the Saturday afternoon show on Heart FM, recently shared with Women’s Health magazine that she’s returned to therapy to process her emotions.

She joked about Strictly Come Dancing, saying all the professional dancers have amazing bodies, while she felt self-conscious working out in her activewear.

It’s really scary and a lot to take in. Ms. Pattison, who is married to TV presenter Ercan Ramadan, 32, also said she’s worried about making mistakes with so much attention on her.

The Vicky Pattison interview appears in the November issue of Women’s Health UK, out now.
