The EWC Street Fighter 6: Format and schedule
At the SF6 Esports World Cup, a grand total of thirty-two competitors take part. These players engage in three distinct stages over the course of four consecutive days.
- Day 1: Tuesday, August 8 — Phase 1 groups
- Day 2: Friday, August 9 — Phase 1 groups
- Day 3: Saturday, August 10 — Phase 2 groups
- Day 3: Sunday, August 11 — Phase 2 groups and playoffs
All the phases start at 5 p.m. local time. It’s 4 p.m. CEST / 8 a.m. ET / 5 a.m. PT.
Phase 1
In this setup, we have 32 competitors split into eight different groups. Each group hosts a best-of-five, double-elimination tournament format. The two finest players from every group move on to Phase 2.

Phase 2
In Phase 2, since the total number of participants has reduced, there are now just four teams remaining. The rules for this phase mirror those of the preceding round. At the EWC SF6, a total of 8 players are still battling it out.
Playoffs
In contrast to many other fighting game esports competitions, the Esports World Cup 2024 for Street Fighter 6 adopts a single-elimination system in its playoff phase. This means that once a participant loses, they’re out of the tournament without a second opportunity. However, the matches themselves are more extended, with the winner being decided when one player reaches five victories.
