‘Stranger Things’ Star Says the Ending Felt “Real” as “Insane” #ConformityGate Theory Rages On

Noah Schnapp, known for his role as Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things, has discussed the recently released final season and how it brought his character’s story to a satisfying conclusion. In the last season of the Netflix series, Jonathan fought against Vecna, but also shared a deeply honest moment with his girlfriend, Nancy. Facing potential danger, they admitted they weren’t right for each other. Schnapp described this emotional scene as “real” and “really well-written,” emphasizing that it provided closure for Jonathan.

Recently, in an interview with People Magazine, Heaton discussed the emotional scene between Nancy and Jonathan. This moment proved to be particularly impactful – and also sparked a lot of debate – among viewers of the show’s final episodes.

After spending so much time with these characters, you naturally become invested in their journey and hope to see them find some kind of resolution.

The ending resonated with me because it felt genuine, and I think that was more impactful than whether or not the characters ended up together. It was a beautifully written scene, and its honesty really struck a chord.

Heaton became very emotional while filming the final season. He shared that the experience, especially the last day on set, would stay with him forever, filled with genuine connection and sadness at saying goodbye to his colleagues. He described it as a truly special time.

‘Stranger Things’ Has Come To an End… Sort Of

Netflix

Filming for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things finished on December 31st, with the last episode, “The Rightside Up,” bringing the story of the Hawkins group and their battle against Vecna to a close. The show’s ending has left many fans feeling disappointed, and some dedicated viewers are hoping for more. A popular online rumor, dubbed “Conformity Gate,” suggests Netflix might be holding back a secret final episode. However, actor Charlie Heaton recently dismissed this theory, calling it “crazy.”

“I’m not on social media, but my friend just told me about this. It’s kind of insane.”

Everything mentioned is currently speculation, as Netflix hasn’t made any official announcements. The next confirmed installment in the Stranger Things universe is a behind-the-scenes documentary, One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, which will be released on January 12th. This documentary will give fans a look at how the fifth and final season was created. Plus, an animated spin-off called Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 is planned for release sometime in 2026. It will feature the familiar characters in animated form, telling a story that takes place between seasons two and three.

A live-action spin-off of Stranger Things is probably coming soon. Even though the creators, the Duffer Brothers, are moving to Paramount for movie projects, they’re still involved with the show. Stranger Things has become incredibly popular recently, and Netflix will definitely want to build on that success.
