Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo roasts Timothée Chalamet in promo for their new movie

Gaten Matarazzo, known for his role in Stranger Things, playfully poked fun at Timothée Chalamet in a new promotional video for his movie, Pizza Movie.

Okay, so, I was totally glued to Instagram yesterday and Joe Matarazzo – seriously, he’s amazing – posted this video. He was standing on this hill, overlooking everything, and just passionately talking about his new comedy special. But the BEST part? He couldn’t resist a little jab at Timothée Chalamet, bringing up Timmy’s comments about ballet and opera! Honestly, it was perfect. I’ve rewatched it like five times already. He just gets me, you know?

Actor announced that his new American movie, ‘Pizza Movie,’ will be released on April 3, 2026. The film is a comedy about two college students who get high and then struggle to climb two flights of stairs to get their pizza.

Soon after, Sean Giambrone, 26, who starred with Matarazzo in Pizza Movie, chimed in, excitedly explaining, “You can watch it on Hulu! We hoped it would be in theaters, but they turned us down.”

The video copied one that Timothée Chalamet, 30, shared on Instagram last year to promote his film, Marty Supreme. This comes after Chalamet experienced a disappointing result at the Oscars earlier this month.

Timothée Chalamet excitedly announced from a rooftop that his new American movie, ‘Marty Supreme,’ will be released on Christmas Day in 2025.

The camera zoomed out, revealing a wider view of the horizon with a Ferris wheel and a large sphere displaying the message ‘Marty Supreme Dream Big’.

‘Yeah, yeah, whoa!’ the Oscar nominee hooted and hollered, waving his arms up high.

Matarazzo’s playful teasing continued until the very end of his video. As the Pizza Movie logo appeared, the actor – best known for playing Dustin Henderson on Stranger Things for the past ten years – made sure to add, ‘Just to be clear, we’re big fans of both ballet and opera!’

Giambrone simply said he didn’t, and honestly, it was such a quick response that Matarazzo playfully asked, with a bit of sarcasm, why he’d even bother saying that in the first place. It was a funny little exchange, really!

The back-and-forth ended with a clear jab at Timothée Chalamet, referencing his earlier remarks that opera and ballet are fading and irrelevant to most people.

Timothée Chalamet, who has been in a relationship with Kylie Jenner for three years, recently spoke about the entertainment industry with actor Matthew McConaughey. The conversation took place at a town hall event co-hosted by CNN and Variety, and was aired on February 21st.

Chalamet expressed his respect for those who publicly advocate for the survival of movie theaters, like when someone might appear on a talk show and say, ‘We need to support them!’

If audiences are excited about a movie, like with Barbie or Oppenheimer, they’ll definitely go see it and won’t be shy about sharing their enthusiasm.

Honestly, I totally get why he feels that way. He explained he doesn’t want to be part of something, like ballet or opera, where it feels like you’re just desperately trying to keep it going even if the public isn’t really interested anymore. And he was quick to say he didn’t mean any disrespect to the performers or anyone involved – he just doesn’t want that pressure.

Despite some defending Chalamet’s comments as simply acknowledging ballet and opera aren’t widely popular, the statement still caused a negative reaction.

Okay, so I was absolutely devastated to read this! Apparently, even Steven Spielberg threw a little shade at Taylor during a panel at SXSW earlier this month. Variety reported it, and honestly, I’m still reeling. Like, Spielberg?! Seriously?! I need to know everything that happened!

As a lifelong movie fan, I’ve always felt that the best films leave you with so much to process. As Steven Spielberg, the director of Jaws, so perfectly put it, a truly great movie sends you out into the world – whether it’s day or night – filled with a mix of emotions that everyone can share.

He explained that this special feeling – a shared connection between performers and audience – is something you often see in movies, concerts, ballet, and opera. As the audience applauded, he expressed a desire for that magical feeling to last indefinitely.

Timothée Chalamet faced some criticism when a model suggested it was disrespectful for Jenner to begin a relationship so soon after rumors of a romance with Chalamet surfaced.

Sarah Tena, 32, said she had a relationship with actor Chalamet between 2020 and 2023.

Timothée Chalamet has been dating Kylie Jenner, known for her business ventures and the reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, since 2023. According to Stassie Karanikolaou, she thought Chalamet and Jenner had a significant relationship and continued communicating even after Chalamet began dating Kylie Jenner, a makeup industry leader.

She said the last time they met was in New York, and she gave him a bracelet that looked like one she already had.

According to reports, their most recent interaction happened in January 2023 when Tena sent Chalamet a birthday message, and he reacted to it with a like.

Around three weeks after initial rumors, Timothée Chalamet and Kendall Jenner were spotted together at a fashion show in Paris. In April, sources reported they were spending time together, and photos later surfaced showing Jenner’s car parked at Chalamet’s house in Beverly Hills.

Tena told the Daily Mail that she fell in love with Chalamet while they were dating. She admitted being really upset when they broke up, because she’d been so confident in their connection, and it was heartbreaking to realize things weren’t what she’d expected. She worried she might never see him again.

Tena said she didn’t expect their friendship to end, but feels he’s become a different person.
