Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard says season 5 will have “a lot of action sequences”
As a cinephile who has grown up with the small screen and witnessed countless hours of captivating narratives unfold, I can confidently say that the journey of Stranger Things has been one for the history books. From its humble beginnings in 2016 to the impending final season, it’s been an exhilarating ride that’s had me on the edge of my seat and eagerly awaiting each new episode.
Currently, Netflix is heavily engaged in the production of the fifth and concluding season of “Stranger Things,” the highly successful ’80s-themed sci-fi horror series created by Matt and Ross Duffer. Since the conclusion of “Game of Thrones” on HBO, numerous television shows have attempted to fill its cultural void, but it seems that only “Stranger Things” has managed to enter a similar sphere of influence. The scale of this series cannot be overstated, as it has sparked considerable conversation, leading to immense anticipation about how the story will conclude in season 5.
Unlike “Game of Thrones”, “Stranger Things” seldom eliminates primary characters from its initial cast who have been part of the show since its debut in 2016. This core group comprises Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin), and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). It’s not an overstatement to say that these characters have matured on “Stranger Things”; most were only just over 10 when the series began, and they are now in their early twenties.
It must be quite a significant sensation for them to be wrapping up ‘Stranger Things’ after so many years. Finn Wolfhard recently shared with US Weekly his insights on filming the final episodes, expressing that there’s a sense of “graduation-like excitement” on set – a fitting comparison given the show’s focus on high school life.
[Wolfhard] is making an effort to fully immerse himself in the character,” he stated. “He’s been quite thoughtful about his approach to arriving on set, trying to enjoy ourselves as much as possible because we understand this is our final season.
Regarding the anticipation for season 5, Wolfhard refrained from revealing significant spoilers. However, he hinted that there would be numerous action scenes in “Stranger Things 5”. The season won’t solely focus on spectacle, though. Given that we’ll be bidding farewell to characters who have been part of our lives for almost a decade, it’s crucial to handle the emotional moments carefully. Wolfhard assures us that season 5 will be both deeply personal and grand in scope.
Finn Wolfhard has never seen a ghost, to his disappointment
Wolfhard has become one of the breakout stars of Stranger Things, appearing in movies like Ghostbusters and Stephen King’s It. He talked a little bit more broadly about what attracts him to the horror genre.
As a devoted admirer of horror films, I find them truly captivating because when they’re exceptionally well-crafted, they elicit strong emotional responses and leave an indelible impact – something that other genres often fail to achieve for me. The experience of watching a superior horror movie is unlike any other; it stirs up raw, visceral feelings that I don’t typically encounter with dramas or other types of films.
Wolfhard had a fun reason for giving this interview in the first place: he’s currently doing a campaign with Ring doorbell cameras where people are encouraged to make funny ghost videos with their cameras and submit them in honor of our current spooky season. That begets an obvious question: has Finn Wolfhard, star of multiple paranormal shows and movies, ever seen a ghost himself? Alas, to his great chagrin, he has not.
Wolfhard expressed some frustration because despite all the work he’s done involving horror and the supernatural, he hasn’t experienced anything paranormal. He feels like he’s opened the door for so many ghosts and spirits, so he expects a supernatural encounter to take place sometime soon.
I’m hoping Finn Wolfhard encounters some chilling moments personally someday soon. For now, production on Stranger Things 5 is underway, though a release date hasn’t been set yet. According to Gaten Matarazzo in September, it’s likely that the series will be out in 2025. The following year may bring an end to the story of the group from Hawkins, Indiana.
