Stranger Things Season 5 Theory: A Tragic Sacrifice To Defeat Vecna

With the release of the first part of Stranger Things season 5, fans are buzzing with predictions about how the series will conclude. One popular theory proposes a heartbreaking way to overcome Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Stranger Things has become a beloved and critically acclaimed sci-fi show, and now it’s gearing up for its much-awaited finale after four successful seasons.

Season 5 of Stranger Things begins a year after the events of season 4, with the town of Hawkins under military quarantine. Eleven and her friends are working on a plan to defeat Vecna, but he complicates things by kidnapping Holly Wheeler as part of a larger scheme.

The first part of Stranger Things season 5 reveals that Will (Noah Schnapp) has special abilities, which he uses to save his friends from the Demogorgons. Now that Will can assist Eleven, and with Kali’s return, their chances of defeating Vecna are higher, though a tragic outcome for one of them remains possible.

Stranger Things Season 5 Theory Suggests Will, Eleven, Or Kali Will Sacrifice Themselves To Close The Gates

In season 5 of Stranger Things, Vecna’s latest scheme involves abducting children from Hawkins – they’re more easily controlled, making the fight against him even harder. This probably means the Hawkins group will have to divide again, with some members working to save the kidnapped children while others go directly after Vecna.

Some fans believe Eleven, Kali, and Will – with their combined abilities – could be the ones to finally defeat Vecna. But a popular theory on Reddit suggests this victory could have a dangerous consequence. If Vecna is destroyed, it might remove the only thing controlling the Mind Flayer, the Demogorgons, and other monsters, potentially unleashing them on the world.

To permanently seal off the Upside Down, Eleven, Kali, and Will must collaborate to close the gate. This requires a two-pronged approach: someone needs to venture into the Upside Down and close it from within, potentially becoming trapped there forever. This person might even take Vecna’s place, but with good intentions instead of evil ones.

This Stranger Things Theory Is Supported By The Trailer

Netflix has released some excellent trailers for the fifth season of Stranger Things. They’re careful not to give away too much, but they’ve sparked a lot of discussion among fans. A popular theory is that Steve (Joe Keery) will die, and some viewers think a short scene of Jonathan crying and embracing the younger characters hints at this happening.

If the idea that the Upside Down’s gates work a certain way is correct, a recent scene might actually suggest Will isn’t returning. It’s possible the scene showed Jonathan and the others grieving for Will, not Steve, which would be incredibly sad considering all Will has been through.

One Key Stranger Things Detail Debunks This Theory

This idea fits with what we’ve seen in season 5 of Stranger Things, but one detail actually proves it wrong. The theory suggests Vecna is beaten first, which then causes the problems from the Upside Down to get much worse, ultimately forcing the three characters with special abilities to make a tough choice.

If Vecna dies before Will, Will will lose his powers, since Vecna is what gives them to him. This would mean Will couldn’t help close the gate between worlds, leaving that job to Eleven and Kali. It would be awful for either of them to have to stay trapped in the Upside Down, considering everything they’ve already been through.

Eleven has matured and found a supportive family and friends who have helped her through terrible experiences. Kali, on the other hand, has always struggled with belonging and was eventually taken by the military. Both characters deserve a happier fate than being stranded alone in the Upside Down, though such an outcome would be a surprising twist for the show.

How Could Vecna Be Defeated In Stranger Things Season 5?

A major question fans have about the upcoming fifth season of Stranger Things is how they’ll finally defeat Vecna. With Kali’s return and hints in the latest trailer, it seems likely that Eleven and Kali will work together to confront and destroy him. However, Vecna is an incredibly powerful enemy, making their task extremely difficult.

Defeating Vecna would require a huge amount of power from Eleven and Kali, and could seriously harm them. Alternatively, completely destroying the Upside Down might also destroy Vecna, but that would be an even more difficult and complicated task than simply killing him.

There’s a possibility of defeating Vecna by attacking him from within his own mind. We now know Holly and Max (Sadie Sink) are trapped there, and the other kids likely will be too. Weakening Vecna’s mind could make it easier to destroy his physical form, but this would require the kids and anyone else fighting him to work together even though they can’t communicate.

Okay, so everyone’s buzzing about theories that the Mind Flayer is actually the big bad, and Vecna will somehow turn good and sacrifice himself fighting it. Honestly? That sounds like a total letdown. I’m expecting the final episodes of Stranger Things to throw us some curveballs, and while I’m braced for anything, I’m really hoping we don’t have to say goodbye to too many of our favorite characters. Let’s just say I’m crossing my fingers for a satisfying, but not devastating, conclusion.
