Stranger Things just broke an impressive Netflix record – before new season is even out

Even though the fifth season of Stranger Things hasn’t premiered yet, it’s already broken a record for Netflix this month – a record that will likely stand for a while. The first episodes are coming out a bit later than usual due to a change in Netflix’s release plan (you can find more details in our guide to the Stranger Things season 5 release date and time), and many fans are getting ready by binge-watching the older seasons.

According to Netflix’s latest weekly rankings (November 17th – 23rd), all four seasons of Stranger Things are currently among the top 10 shows worldwide.

This is the first time a show has appeared in Netflix’s top 10 for so many seasons, and because Stranger Things is such an important show for the platform, it’s unlikely this record will be beaten anytime soon.

However, there’s a chance all five seasons of Stranger Things could end up in the worldwide top 10, which is quite likely considering the current excitement around the show.

The creators of the show, the Duffer brothers, have hinted at what’s coming in the new season, saying it won’t be quite as visually intense as season four, but it will feature the most shocking and brutal death of the entire series, according to an interview with The Times.

The big question is, who will die, and when will it happen during the fifth season? We’ll find out as the season unfolds.

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, the creators clarified that Vecna wasn’t the figure Will Byers saw before entering the Upside Down in the first season, debunking a popular fan theory.

Ross clarified that the creature people were speculating was Vecna, or something they’d altered in post-production, was actually the Demogorgon.

In the first season, we hadn’t created Vecna yet. We understood there was a powerful, thinking evil force in the Upside Down, but Vecna hadn’t been developed at that point.

You can watch seasons 1 through 4 of Stranger Things on Netflix right now. The first part of season 5 is available starting tonight, and the remaining episodes will be released in December.
