New Year’s Eve plans are taking shape for Stranger Things fans! Tickets are now available to see the final episodes in movie theaters. The event details include a list of participating theaters, a way to reserve your spot, and even pre-order snacks. The finale will be a longer-than-usual episode, clocking in at 2 hours and 5 minutes.
Don’t be concerned if your local cinema isn’t showing the final episodes of Stranger Things in theaters, or if you’d prefer to watch from home. Spoilers won’t be a problem because the full season will be available on December 31st at 5 p.m. Pacific Time / 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
If you’ve made plans for New Year’s Eve but have some free time on New Year’s Day, you’re in luck! The final episodes of Stranger Things will still be showing in theaters on January 1, 2026, giving fans a chance to celebrate the new year and bid farewell to the 1980s with a big screen experience.
It was unexpected, since Netflix had previously been firm about not releasing its original series in theaters, and had specifically said there wouldn’t be a theatrical event for Stranger Things. Apparently, the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, managed to persuade Netflix that a short, limited run in cinemas would be a good idea.
This announcement was made just before the Thanksgiving holiday in the US. More episodes will be released on Christmas Day, December 25th, with the final episodes airing on New Year’s Eve.
Stranger Things Fans Prepare for the End
Excitement for Stranger Things Season 5 has been growing throughout the year, marking the end of a four-year wait for fans of the popular Netflix sci-fi show. This anticipation reached its peak just before the season premiered, and Netflix has confirmed it’s the first time any of their shows have had a trailer viewed that many times in such a short period.
While the first four episodes of Stranger Things‘ final season haven’t been universally loved like past seasons, a score of 84% is still very positive. There’s also hope that later episodes will be even better received.
Although the main Stranger Things show is finishing with its current season, the world of Stranger Things will continue with new stories. Even after creators Ross and Matt Duffer move on from Netflix, several spin-offs are planned, including a new series, a play, and potentially a movie. If you’re looking for more Stranger Things content right now, you can find it available.
Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
