On TV, The Great British Bake Off stands out as a favorite show for many young viewers. However, this popularity doesn’t stop veteran judge Dame Prue Leith from expressing her thoughts about how these young bakers have been excessively pampered by their overly protective parents.
Speaking before a gathering of scholars at the Cambridge Union recently, the Bake Off judge cautioned them, hinting that her upcoming message might not sit well with them.
‘Whatever I say, I am likely to offend people, but I am going to say it,’ she declared.
‘I think there is a real problem with mental health post-Covid.
‘There is no question. Lots of young people are struggling – they just can’t cope with modern life.
However, it seems a significant portion of this issue might stem from an overemphasis we’ve placed on personal matters, often focusing more on “self, self, self”.
‘Like, “How is my mental health? How is my wellbeing? Have I got enough time?”
‘We believe it’s important for this generation to consider others as well as themselves. More empathy could potentially lead to improved outcomes.’

She stated, “Overindulgence can lead to an unhealthy state, which isn’t often welcomed.
As someone passionately devoted to the culinary world, much like Dame Prue Leith, 85, the visionary behind Leith’s School of Food and Wine, I would encourage the youth: ‘Always strive to avoid boredom.’ This esteemed institution equips professional chefs and enthusiastic home cooks alike.
‘When you are young, you think it is quite cool as you are shy and unsure. It is really disastrous.
Don’t let yourself get bored. Boredom is not an option. If you find yourself seated next to an elderly gentleman discussing his greenhouse at a dinner party, feel free to engage in the conversation and ask questions.
Sacre bleu! Carla takes up pole dancing
Ooh la la! France’s former first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has taken up a surprising new activity.
The model and singer, 57, is learning pole dancing – and has shared a video online to prove it.
Carla expresses that it’s a truly effective method for staying in shape, she being the wife of Nicolas Sarkozy, the ex-president of France, since 2008.

The benefits of pole dancing are said to be weight loss and increased flexibility and strength.
In light of her present difficulties, adaptability might prove beneficial: she faced charges the previous summer due to a financing controversy linked to the 2007 election and funds from the late Libyan dictator, Colonel Gaddafi.
How Simone didn’t cause a buzz over on-set bee sting
In a rather ironic turn of events, just as her Bridgerton character experienced, Simone Ashley found herself in real-life drama when she was stung by a bee while working on her new movie set.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, let me share an intriguing turn of events from the captivating world of costume dramas. In this instance, I found myself in the shoes of Kate Sharma, who experienced an unexpected sting. This incident, surprisingly, led to a moment brimming with romantic tension between none other than Viscount Bridgerton and myself.
Now, the star, 29, has fallen victim again, this time in real life.

As I watched over the monitor during the filming of my latest project, Picture This for Amazon Prime Video, I noticed a subtle eye twitch from our lead actress. But remarkably, she carried on without missing a beat!
In a presentation held at the Barbican Centre in London, Mohan shared: ‘We hadn’t fully removed the bee sting.’
‘They took her to look at everything and then she came back on set and was, like, “I’m back”.’
Leo’s preparation for stardom
One Day heartthrob Leo Woodall reveals he underwent therapy to help prepare for stardom.
28-year-old resident of London, who gained popularity from the successful drama series “White Lotus,” began seeking assistance during his student days at the ArtsEd drama school in Chiswick, with the aim of boosting his self-confidence.

As a devoted admirer, let me share my thoughts echoing an actor’s words: “Engaging in effort and self-exploration through regular sessions – something I personally find beneficial – is a practice I wholeheartedly recommend for everyone.
Regardless of my current situation, I must deal with it in order to discuss it openly. On certain days, I may think ‘I’m doing well, I don’t require counseling’, but those instances are crucial for keeping therapy appointments.
Selling home is not so easy for shamed Huw
When a house is owned by a famous name, a boost to its value would normally follow.
The reverse appears to be the case with former BBC star Huw Edwards.
The shamed newsreader slashed the asking price of his family home in south London by £250,000.
The six-bedroom house would, however, still cost a whopping £4.5million.

In the year 2006, Edward, aged 63, along with his separated spouse Vicky Flind, purchased a vast estate for approximately £1,850,000.
Five months back, they listed the property for a price of £4.75 million, following Edward’s admission of guilt regarding the possession of 41 inappropriate images involving children, some as young as seven years old.
After showing remorse, he avoided imprisonment, however, the absence of a jail term ignited a discussion about how pedophiles should be handled in our justice system.
Kate Bush’s ‘Netflix effect’
Discuss the impact of Netflix on royalties: Thanks to its hit series Stranger Things, which premiered in 2022, British singer Kate Bush earned a staggering £7.6 million by using her song Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) from 1985. This phenomenon is often referred to as the “Netflix effect.
The financial reports recently submitted for Bush’s art-focused company, Noble & Brite Limited, reveal that they earned approximately £3.4 million during the period from April 2023 to March 2024.

This comes on top of the £4.2million profit the previous year.
The enchanting pop artist, aged 66, known for songs like Wuthering Heights and Babooshka, has largely stayed out of the public eye following her 22 performances during her comeback tour in 2014 and a live album release that followed two years after.
American aristocrat slanders her homeland
Although she is a highly distinguished American noblewoman, the newly titled Countess of Sandwich is eager to dissociate herself from her native land following President Donald Trump’s actions concerning Ukraine and its president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
‘I’m hiding my USA passport and accent,’ says the countess, yoga instructor Julie Montagu.
She says, “Previously, Russia was viewed as the most disliked nation globally… but let me tell you, recent events have caused a shift. As for us [Americans], it seems we’re no longer considered the best country in the world.
