Andy and Stewart found themselves with no other choice but to resort to a lawsuit, as they claim they are entitled to millions of dollars in unpaid royalties.
London’s High Court lists the legal case under ‘general commercial contracts and arrangements’.
In this legal case, both Sting (Gordon Matthew Sumner) personally and his company, Magnetic Publishing Limited, are named as defendants.
It’s estimated that the star generates approximately £550,000 annually just from royalties of the popular song “Every Breath You Take,” which ranks as the fifth top-selling track from the ’80s.
Bandmates Summers and Copeland, however, were not handed songwriting credits on the single.
The Daily Mail has approached Sting, Summers and Copeland for comment.
