Stevie Nicks’ First New Album in 14 Years: Songs About Her Romance!

Fleetwood Mac star Stevie Nicks has revealed that she is recording her first album in 14 years.

The 76-year-old vocalist announced that the upcoming album will delve into her personal relationships, with several songs already written based on past romantic experiences. Moreover, she admitted that one track will specifically focus on Prince.

Stevie remarked that she’s currently working on a new recording, as she was being honored at the Pollstar Live Hall of Fame ceremony last Wednesday evening.

Title it as “The Phantom Album” since its creation seemed almost spontaneous over the past two weeks. It comprises seven tracks that are deeply personal, recounting true events from my life. For perhaps the first time ever, I’m laying it all bare without mincing words.

Instead of vague tunes where one wonders who they’re referring to, these are tangible narratives – personal tales from my past, about remarkable men.

Stevie shared that it was following her displacement from her Los Angeles home due to the wildfires, and spending 91 days away, that she felt compelled to return to her work and begin working on a new album.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, let me share some exciting news: I’m elated to announce that the upcoming album, tentatively named “Ghost,” marks a significant milestone in her discography. It’s been 14 years since we last had a full-length studio album from her, with the release of “In Your Dreams” in 2011. This forthcoming masterpiece promises to delve into her high-profile relationships with musical legends such as Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Don Henley, and Jimmy Iovine.

Back in 1977, amidst my personal turmoil following a divorce from fellow bandmate Lindsey Buckingham, I found myself in a complex situation. This involved me, surprisingly enough, having an affair with another Fleetwood Mac bandmate, Mick Fleetwood, who was also married at the time. It was a challenging period for all of us.

The artist behind Rooms On Fire confessed: “I spent 92 days in a hotel, and towards the end of that period, I realized that although I was on the road, there were no shows scheduled. Everyone else was at home working on repairs, leaving me alone in the hotel.

Reflecting on a stressful encounter she had with the late Prince, Stevie found herself inspired to explore more intimately certain aspects of her relationships with men, which she embarked upon subsequently.

I composed a tune dedicated to Prince since we were close companions, and I attended the premiere of Purple Rain as one of the moments we shared. As I sat there to watch it, the story reached its midpoint where he struck Apollonia, causing me quite a shock. I swiftly sought solace in the elegant restroom for the remainder of the entire film.

I proceeded to cross the street to attend the party, where he was waiting for me in an intimate room upstairs. He inquired, ‘Did you enjoy yourself?’ To which I responded, ‘I only managed to watch the first half because your actions towards that girl disturbed me. However, I did bring you a present – it’s a stunning 24 karat necklace adorned with tiny gold hearts.’

That means I’m working on this so I can get back to traveling and performing as a singer, particularly in Ohio where I truly enjoy being, and having a great time since that’s now my passion.

She playfully commented that her long hair “makes me appear a decade younger,” further stating, “Age is irrelevant compared to the importance of feeling safeguarded, cherished, and adored. It’s less about my actual age and more about people offering their affection, seeking me out, and connecting with me.

‘And thank God Covid is better enough that we’re not having to fight that so hard.

‘And so just you to know that I love all of you so much for what you do, for all of us.’

Stevie Nicks didn’t reveal any upcoming plans regarding Fleetwood Mac, yet she did honorably acknowledge Buckingham, whom she currently finds it difficult to collaborate with within the band.

1968 marked the year I became part of a band with Lindsay, located in San Francisco. For the next two years, our band thrived. We were fortunate enough to share stages with every notable San Francisco band, and even opened for acts like Chicago, Jimi Hendrix (in front of an audience of 75,000 people).

It wasn’t challenging for us to join Fleetwood Mac since Lindsay and I already fit in. The band we joined was essentially the same for us. Consequently, when we entered Fleetwood Mac, we didn’t find anything particularly surprising. We were thrilled about it because it was truly excellent, but not unexpectedly so.

At the culmination of Pollstar Live!, the globally recognized conference for live entertainment experts held in Los Angeles, Stevie was acknowledged by Pollstar for his legendary impact on rock music, with a special honor celebrating his iconic contributions.

Jimmy Iovine, the esteemed record producer and a former friend, spoke highly of her, acknowledging her remarkable professional journey by saying, “my cherished, cherished old friend.

Consider how profoundly she has impacted numerous young female singers throughout the years, with Taylor Swift alone leaving an impressive mark on this current decade. Singers like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Lana del Ray stand out as examples. It’s truly astonishing how unique each artist is in their own right.

Stevie’s voice seems almost ethereal. Throughout my career, I’ve collaborated with numerous exceptional vocalists, and in my role as a producer, I’ve encountered many more. However, none compare to the unique quality that Stevie possesses; it doesn’t diminish the talent of any other singer I’ve worked with.

Among all the artists I’ve collaborated with, just two have never needed a retake on their singing – an improbability indeed. These exceptional individuals were Stevie Nicks and John Lennon.

‘They walk to that microphone and this is how I sing, and you better record it quick.’

He firmly emphasized his admiration: “You are unquestionably the most remarkable woman, a legendary rock star. You’re the best of the best, the one who has achieved greatness like no other.

Stevie playfully pointed out, “Jimmy forgot to mention that we had been living together for nearly five years before going out.

Her motivation for singing live stems from watching a documentary featuring Mick Jagger performing on stage, which inspired her to nail the first recording attempt.

In simple terms, Taylor Swift was among the top honorees at the 36th Pollstar Awards, receiving the title of ‘Major Tour of the Year’ for a record-breaking second time in a row, thanks to her current Eras Tour.
