Steven Spielberg’s mysterious new event movie with impressive cast gets new release date

Steven Spielberg’s mysterious event movie has landed a new release date.

The movie, featuring a star-studded lineup that includes Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, and Eve Hewson, is set to premiere on May 15 of the coming year.

Instead, the project has been delayed until June 12th to steer clear of clashing with heavyweights like “Avengers: Doomsday” and “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” which are due for release in May.

The director of “The Fabelmans” has stepped into the role previously reserved for the Daniels’ upcoming film, “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” as the latter has not yet announced a new release date.

Steven Spielberg’s current project has been labeled as an “innovative, standalone movie based on a unique storyline.” David Koepp, who was involved in Jurassic Park, is penning the script for this film. Although it is known that there will be elements of science fiction, the specifics of the plot have yet to be revealed to the public.

Apart from working on the secretive project, the renowned filmmaker also plans to bring to life the highly-anticipated movie adaptation of Thursday Murder Club, a murder mystery tale that was originally penned by Richard Osman in his popular book.

On The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, Osman shared memories of a meeting with Spielberg last year, stating: “First and foremost, he exuded an extraordinary aura. When I met him, I couldn’t help but think, ‘Wow, this is Steven Spielberg!’

“It was so lovely seeing even the other actors were excited to be around him.”

He also mentioned that Spielberg was “extremely gracious,” and went on to share: “I managed to express my gratitude toward the end, saying, ‘Thank you for all you do and the happiness you’ve brought the world.’ I felt there was no need for further words; simply thanking him was enough.

Reflecting on all the laughter, emotions, and memories he’s given us through his performances, it’s heartwarming to have the opportunity to greet him, express our gratitude, and acknowledge his impact. It feels great to do so.

Steven Spielberg’s untitled new movie will be released in cinemas on June 12, 2026.
