Steven Bartlett’s fiancée Melanie Lopes shares first look at her stunning engagement ring after the business mogul shared he spent four years planning his Christmas proposal

Melanie Lopes, who is engaged to entrepreneur Steven Bartlett, recently showed off her beautiful engagement ring for the first time. Bartlett proposed on Christmas Day.

I’m so excited to share some lovely news! As reported in the Daily Mail, Steven Bartlett, the host of the Diary Of A CEO podcast, recently proposed to his girlfriend of seven years while they were in Morocco. It sounds incredibly romantic!

Melanie posted a picture of her engagement ring—an oval-cut diamond—on Instagram Stories. This came after her fiancé, a star from Dragons’ Den, revealed he had been planning the proposal for four years.

She sweetly captioned the post: ‘Mon amour.’

Steven publicly confirmed his engagement for the first time on Wednesday’s episode of the ‘Hot Smart Rich’ podcast with Maggie Sellers Reum.

He described his fiancée, Melanie – a French-Portuguese yoga instructor and businesswoman – as someone who truly understands him. He explained that she sees all sides of him, so he always pays close attention when she speaks, and considers her very special.

She’s pretty much my opposite in a lot of ways. I often tell my friends she seems like a perfect being who somehow landed right in front of me.

We’ve been together for nearly seven years, and I really admire her – I strive to be more like her every day.

They first connected on Instagram in 2016. Even though both work a lot with social media, they’ve generally kept their relationship private.

Steven, a wealthy businessman worth an estimated £320 million and known for appearing on Dragons’ Den, dated Melanie for a year. They briefly separated while he concentrated on growing his companies, but later reconciled.

Let me tell you, I’ve seen a lot of grand gestures, but Steven really took the cake! When he realized Melanie was the one, he didn’t hesitate. He flew a full 22 hours – yes, you read that right – all the way to Bali, where she was leading a beautiful breathwork and yoga retreat, to win her back. And it worked! They’re happier and stronger than ever now. It just proves that sometimes, you have to go to extraordinary lengths for the people you love.

While on vacation, Steven proposed to Melanie with a diamond ring, and the wellness influencer happily accepted.

Friends of the couple say they’ve never been more in love, having successfully balanced their busy careers while living in both London and Los Angeles. They’re now starting to plan their wedding and are thrilled about the future.

Steven explained that he’d been secretly planning the engagement ring for years. He overheard his partner discussing rings with a friend about four years ago, and used that conversation – and her Pinterest boards – to get an idea of what she liked. He quietly saved pictures of rings she favored to help him choose the perfect one.

I’ve kept a folder on my phone for three or four years with pictures of rings she liked. Yesterday, we were in New York and I went to a jeweler a few trusted friends recommended. They helped us design the ring.

Steven said he used to fear that whilst he was successful, he would be lonely in a big house.

Honestly, Mel just grounds me, you know? Like, she’s my anchor. And thinking about our future… I can already picture it! Kids, a real family, all the good stuff that comes with building a life together. It’s just… everything feels possible with her. I can’t wait to start that chapter, to have those responsibilities and build something lasting with her. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted.

For me, being a good person means being someone others can rely on, and being able to rely on them in return. That’s something I really value.

Steven is famous for hosting The Diary of a CEO podcast. It’s consistently one of the most popular podcasts in the UK, gaining millions of listeners each month with its interesting conversations and high-profile guests.

Since 2017, Steven has interviewed many well-known people, including Kamala Harris, Louis Tomlinson, Davina McCall, Lewis Capaldi, and Simon Cowell.

He’s the youngest Dragon on the BBC show Dragons’ Den, working with well-known investors like Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden. He frequently invests in promising new businesses.

Steven came to the UK from Botswana when he was just two years old. At 18, he left university to focus on building his career as an entrepreneur.

It was really tough to hear about Steven’s falling out with his parents, especially his mom. She was absolutely devastated, because she’d always sacrificed so much, wanting him to get an education she herself never had the chance to pursue. It felt like he was dismissing everything she’d dreamed for him, and it truly broke her heart.

Despite his earlier challenges, Steven achieved significant success with The Social Chain, his social media marketing agency. When the company first became publicly traded, it was valued at £300 million.

Steven has a packed year ahead! He’s planning his wedding, returning for another season of Dragons’ Den, and will also keep creating episodes of his hugely popular podcast.

Last October, Steven.com – the company behind his various media projects, including Flight Story – was estimated to be worth £320 million.

Steven believes this will allow him to create a leading platform for online creators, similar to Disney. He’s talking about the rapidly growing world of influencers who earn money through platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, and YouTube – an industry worth billions of pounds.
