Details have emerged about a deleted scene from Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie featuring Steve Rogers. According to a new report, the scene, originally intended for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, would have set up future storylines in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
New rumor reveals what happened in Fantastic Four’s deleted post-credits scene
A source revealed more information about a deleted scene from the movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps. According to the post on X (formerly Twitter), the scene showed the Fantastic Four going to Steve Rogers’ cabin to ask for his help with a problem involving the multiverse and Incursions. That scene is now included in the movie Avengers Doomsday.
The post states that Marvel repurposed the sequence for Avengers: Doomsday.
An earlier report indicated the film would show Steve Rogers, Peggy Carter, and their son living on Earth-828. News first surfaced in December 2024 that Chris Evans would reprise his role as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel Studios then confirmed this by featuring him prominently in the film’s initial teaser trailer.
In an interview with Empire earlier this year, directors Anthony and Joe Russo explained that Captain America is essential to the Avengers and the overall story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They emphasized that the MCU wouldn’t be the same without his key involvement.
So, I’m hearing some interesting things about the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. Apparently, according to my sources at The Hot Mic, there was a post-credits scene planned where Reed Richards and the team were trying to recruit Captain America – Steve Rogers, specifically – to help them gain the trust of the existing MCU heroes. It was reportedly cut, but could still make it into the final film. And get this – it sounds like Doctor Doom isn’t going to be a lone wolf. My sources say he’s assembling his own crew, a sort of magical task force composed of witches and wizards – basically, his version of the Black Order. It’s all very intriguing!
Okay, so here’s the buzz: it looks like Chris Evans did film scenes before he publicly said he was done with Marvel. Apparently, a reliable source says he’s going to be involved in a storyline where Thor and Captain America are tracking down Loki. And get this – they’re already on the Fantastic Four’s ship with Doctor Doom before we even see it properly arrive in the MCU, just like that quick shot in the Thunderbolts trailer hinted at. It’s a bit confusing, but it sounds like he’s not completely out of the picture!
Marvel Studios will release Avengers: Doomsday in theaters on December 18, 2026.
