Steve Price Stuns ‘The Project’ Panel With Spot-On Trump Impression After Dutton Snub
In my latest take on current affairs, I found myself chuckling over some playful jabs aimed at the U.S. President and our very own Minister Peter Dutton, during last night’s lively discussion on The Project. It’s always refreshing to see a bit of humor in the news!
During their conversation, they debated over a video where Donald Trump confessed his ignorance about Peter Dutton, while expressing his appreciation for the cordiality shown by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese towards him.
Price recreated the moment, in an American accent and all, during the current affairs show.
I don’t recognize that man. Albanese is a fine fellow. As for the other person, I don’t know him.” (In an informal style reminiscent of Trump.)
In the heat of our discussion, I couldn’t help but be taken aback by an impressively spot-on impersonation of Donald Trump, delivered none other than by Steve Price. It was a performance that left me both stunned and deeply impressed.
The joke caused the entire panel to erupt in laughter, with Sarah Harris joining in by attempting a Trump-like accent.)

Trump was asked about the outcome of Australia’s election near the White House on Monday morning. Regarding Albanese, he mentioned, “I have a very amicable relationship with him.
‘I don’t know anything about the election… the man that won is very good.’
In my own words, I’d express it as follows: When questioned about Albanese’s past remarks that Trump’s universal 10% tariffs were “not the action of a friend,” Trump replied by stating: “All I can say is he’s been exceptionally kind to me, and always shows great respect towards me.
‘I have no idea who the other person is that ran against him.
‘We’ve had a very good relationship.’
The PM later revealed he had spoken to Trump following his re-election victory.
On Monday morning, I shared a heartwarming and uplifting chat about President Trump not too long ago, right there at the Lodge, I enthusiastically declared.
‘I thanked him for his very warm message of congratulations. We talked about AUKUS and tariffs.
‘We will continue to engage with each other on a face-to-face basis at some time in the future.

‘But it was very warm… And I thanked him for reaching out in such a positive way as well.’
The PM was then asked when he will visit the United States and whether a June trip is on the cards.
Instead of directly answering, Albanese commented: “I’ll share the news once there’s news to share.
As a lifestyle advisor speaking candidly, I might rephrase it this way: I didn’t discuss the possibility that my term in office may have led to a decline in public approval for the Coalition.
Dutton hasn’t had a meeting with Trump in the past, and given that he lost the election and his constituency of Dickson on Saturday evening, it’s unlikely they will encounter each other in the near future.
In the heat of the recent political race I was following, I noticed an intriguing finding from a Daily Mail Australia-Ipsos poll. During the campaign, it seemed that voters perceived my preferred coalition as having a slight edge over their competitors when it came to managing the Trump situation, with 32% favoring us compared to Labor’s 29%.
But a local backlash to Trump’s agenda is widely seen as a factor in Dutton’s election wipeout.
The Coalition demonstrated a tendency to replicate certain Trump-era policies, including a potential challenge to remote work options for government employees.

Later during the campaign, Dutton had sought to distance himself from Trump’s agenda.
However, the coalition faced criticism due to their decisions to reduce the number of public employees by 41,000 and appoint NT senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price as a representative for enhancing government productivity, which bears resemblance to Mr. Trump’s initiatives.
Senator Price drew attention by echoing the sentiment behind Donald Trump’s election slogan, stating that she wanted to make Australia “great once more.
In the latest Canadian election, Trump’s policies played a significant role in strengthening the centre-left government while weakening the conservative opposition, causing their leader to lose his position in the House of Commons.
Albanese and Dutton were advocating for their ability to handle relations with the Trump Administration, in response to the president’s decision to impose tariffs on our allies.
During the election, Dutton expressed his belief that he could arrange a conversation with the President to negotiate a more favorable agreement.
Although President Trump has yet to issue a formal congratulatory message, similar to other global leaders, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio took to social media to express his sentiments following the election results.
‘Australia is a valued US friend and a close partner,’ he said on X, formerly Twitter.
‘Excited for our ongoing efforts to uphold freedom and safety, not just in the Indo-Pacific region, but globally as well.’
In simple terms, the United States is levying a 10% basic tax on imported goods from Australia, while imposing a 25% tax on aluminum and steel products.
