Steve Jones reveals he once saved rapper Diddy’s life after the Welsh presenter rescued him from drowning during a boat party in St Tropez

Steve Jones shared a story about how he rescued rapper P Diddy when they were both on a boat trip in St. Tropez.

The Welsh TV host revealed this surprising information on a 2017 episode of the BBC show *Would I Lie To You?*, before details about the rapper’s troubled history became public.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs could face up to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of two charges related to transporting people for prostitution. He will be sentenced in October. However, he was found not guilty of the more severe charges of sex trafficking and racketeering following his July 2nd federal trial.

Steve remembered meeting P Diddy on a gameshow and, while speaking to host Rob Brydon and the other panelists, shared a surprising story: ‘I once saved P Diddy’s life.’

A clearly puzzled David Mitchell questioned, “How? But let’s pause for a moment. David… P Diddy.”

Guest Fiona Bruce then asked: ‘So, how did you do it?’

Steve then explained: ‘Er, he was drowning and I saved him. I jumped in and I saved him.’

David followed up by asking if they had been socializing with P Diddy before, or if their meeting was just a chance encounter.

Steve then confirmed: ‘Yeah, we were socialising. We were on the same boat together.

We share a friend named Derek Evans, who’s from Pontypridd and owns a boat. He’s been good friends with Diddy for quite a while now.

He went on to explain that they were just there to have fun when she mentioned P Diddy was coming the next day. He said he casually replied, “Oh, cool.”

‘We got pretty steaming that night when he got on the boat, it was a bit of a raucous party.

He admitted to feeling hungover the next morning, saying, “I’m really hungover.” I replied, “Yeah, most of us are feeling that way too.”

He was hungry, and I recall him having a large bowl of pasta for lunch. Afterwards, he said he was going swimming and jumped into the ocean.

He explained how he helped the man, saying he didn’t think twice about checking on him. ‘I turned around to see if he was okay, just a quick look. It was P. Diddy, so of course you’re going to look!’

He made fists and started pretending to drown, hitting the water with them. I initially thought he was just playing around.

I quickly dove into the water and swam over to him, reassuring him that he was okay and to stay calm. He cried out for help, so I held him securely around his chest and pulled him back to the boat. He managed to climb up the ladder and thanked me.

‘And I was like, you’re welcome, P Diddy.’

David’s team thought the story sounded unbelievable and decided it wasn’t true. Then, to everyone’s surprise, Steve confirmed that it actually happened.
