Steve Doocy will co-host ‘Fox & Friends’ from Florida

Steve Doocy is stepping down from his position on the “curvy couch” of “Fox & Friends,” yet he’s not planning to depart from the overall Fox News morning broadcast.

On Thursday, Doocy announced that he is relocating to Florida, where he’ll handle his co-host duties for the program from a remote location, while Ainsley Earhardt, Lawrence Jones, and Brian Kilmeade continue their roles at Fox News’ New York studio. Having spent almost three decades on the morning shift at Fox News, Doocy is planning to cut down his work schedule to only three days a week starting now.

Doocy expressed that while the job is fantastic, the work hours are less than ideal. After years of waking up at 3:30 am and commuting to New York City in the dark, today marks his final day hosting this program from home. He’s not retiring or leaving the show, but he feels it’s time for a shift.

Doocy said he will also travel to outside of Florida to do remote segments for “Fox & Friends.”

68-year-old Doocy has been a founding member of Fox News since its establishment in 1996, serving as their original weather presenter on the morning show “Fox X-Press.” Later, he transitioned to co-hosting the program “Fox & Friends” when it assumed control over the time slot in 1998.

More recently, Doocy has been recognized as the “Fox & Friends” team member who frequently questions or challenges the pro-Trump viewpoints presented during the show. Some of his more contentious interactions with Kilmeade, like their disagreements over congressional inquiries into Joe Biden and Hunter Biden, are frequently pointed out by critics of Fox News on social media platforms.

President Trump is pretty adamant about his disdain for the news media.

It’s clear that Doocy’s challenges have stood out, particularly since “Fox & Friends” served as an open platform for Trump to voice his opinions – even ones like the debunked claim about President Obama not being born in the U.S., prior to his political career.

It’s yet unclear if the absence of Doocy from the studio will impact his ability to present opposing viewpoints on various topics, but he has reassured viewers that he will still express his opinions.

He stated that he would keep being part of the commentary team on the couch,” he said. “Rest assured, you’ll still catch my comments clearly.

The video displayed a message of congratulations from President Trump. In the message, he remarked, “You’ve generally been fair to me, though perhaps a bit more so at times than others, but that’s alright.” He then added, “You are an exceptional individual.

Peter Doocy, who serves as the senior White House correspondent for Fox News, is married to Hillary Vaughn, a correspondent based in Washington D.C. for the Fox Business Network.

Prior to my tenure at Fox News, I honed my skills as a features reporter at the Washington D.C. station WRC-TV, a daytime talk show host for NBC’s “House Party,” and a host on the cable network America’s Talking, which eventually morphed into MSNBC. In simpler terms, I had a rich broadcasting journey before finding my footing at Fox News.
