Steve Carell’s new comedy adds Carry-On star

In the yet unnamed HBO show starring Steve Carell, actress Danielle Deadwyler from the “Carry On” series has become the latest addition to the cast.

In May, it was announced that a comedy series has been planned, featuring Steve Carell portraying an author who finds it challenging to bond with his daughter, played by Charly Clive. The story unfolds within the setting of a college campus.

As reported by Deadline, the actor Deadwyler, known for his role as Elena Cole in Netflix’s thriller “Carry-On”, has been added to the cast. He will portray a poetry professor and published author who quickly forms a connection with Carell’s character.

In the previously-mentioned 10-episode series, Deadwyler has been added to the cast that includes Carell, Clive, and Phil Dunster. The show is being scripted by Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses. Notably, Carell will also assume an executive producer role in this series, along with Lawrence, Tarses, Jeff Ingold, and Liza Katzer.

According to Lawrence, creator of Ted Lasso on Apple TV+, HBO has consistently set a high standard for television quality. Working on this upcoming project with Steve Carell at HBO is a significant achievement for Matt and me, and it feels like nothing else could possibly top this career milestone.

With Steve Carell and Bill Lawrence teaming up, we can expect a lot of humor, heart, and elegance. Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President of HBO & Max Comedy Programming, expressed her excitement about hosting this long-awaited partnership.

Channing Dungey, head of Warner Bros. Television Group, expressed her enthusiasm about working alongside Steve Carell, Bill Lawrence, and Matt Tarses on an upcoming, undoubtedly fantastic TV show.

Together, they have graced some of the most legendary and triumphant comedies on TV. In collaboration with HBO, we eagerly anticipate uniting them for another groundbreaking comedy series.

Actress Danielle Deadwyler, known for her roles in “Station Eleven” and “The Piano Lesson,” is set to appear in the upcoming horror film “The Woman in the Yard.” In this production, she teams up again with director Jaume Collet-Serra, who is well-known for his work on the “Carry-On” series.
