Stephen Mulhern stunned as he makes big mistake for first time in 10+ years on hit ITV show
On an unprecedented occasion, Stephen Mulhern was taken aback when he committed a significant error during his over-a-decade tenure as host of ITV’s beloved game show, Catchphrase.
In a recent episode of the program, specifically tailored for celebrities, Jeremy Vine, Charlie Hedges, and Luke Kempner competed fiercely against each other, aiming to raise funds for their respective causes. However, it was evident that one round seemed significantly less challenging than the rest.
In one instance, Mulhern played a segment featuring the program’s mascot, Mr. Chips, entering a bakery. As the costs of the goods inside escalated rapidly, eventually causing the roof to burst.

Mulhern advised them to take their time and wait for a clue first, but he immediately disregarded his own instructions by providing the solution instead.
“Literally, the prices have gone through the roof!” he said.
The host’s response to his comment made it clear that we had pulled off our plan, with Vine being quick to catch on, as the studio audience erupted in laughter and cheers.
“I have never in my life done that, in 10 years,” he admitted.
Hedges inquired if you truly haven’t ever done that before,” he said, and Mulhern replied that it had been a decade since he last provided such an answer.
Vine proudly noted that he broke a record with his famous catchphrase, whereas the quartet playfully remarked that past host Roy Walker always kept the answers to himself.
Kempner playfully suggested that it would have been quite difficult to secure the item earlier, as if he were the one hosting. Then, with a chuckle, he exclaimed, “Stephen Mulhern’s bid is now at £200!
In this episode, frequent guest on “Big Brother’s Bit on the Side” as well as an Impressionist, Kempner, emerged victorious for charity Little Lives UK, not only earning the prize for himself but also doubling the winnings for his fellow competitors.
