In 2025, audiences enjoyed a diverse range of movies and shows across all genres. From scary horror to epic fantasy, funny dark comedies, and futuristic sci-fi, Hollywood delivered plenty of exciting options.
This quick clip highlights a thrilling moment from the movie: when Ben Richards, played by Glen Powell, carjacks Amelia Williams (Emilia Jones) and takes her hostage to get her assistance. The video breaks down how the scene was filmed, and surprisingly reveals that Emilia Jones doesn’t actually know how to drive!
At the start of the scene, Powell says, ‘I’m being held up by Emilia Jones,’ as the actress trains a gun on him. He quickly adds, ‘This isn’t a practice exercise, this is real.’
The actor explained that a humorous situation arose during filming because Emilia Jones, who played Amelia, doesn’t actually know how to drive. This meant the crew had to physically push the car while others pulled it with ropes. He found it surprisingly funny and said Jones’ talent made the extra effort completely worthwhile, calling her ‘amazing.’
The big-budget sci-fi thriller stars Powell and was directed by Edgar Wright. Wright co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Bacall, adapting Stephen King’s 1982 novel – a story that was previously made into a film in 1987.
The cast of The Running Man features Josh Brolin, William H. Macy, Michael Cera, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, Sean Hayes, and Colman Domingo.
The film has received generally negative reviews from critics, earning a low score of 64% on Rotten Tomatoes – the same as MGM+’s The Institute. Viewers, however, were more positive, giving it a 79% approval rating. Despite this, the film struggled at the box office, earning only $68.4 million worldwide on an $110 million production budget.
The Running Man’s Digital Release Comes With Two and a Half Hours of Bonus Content
Despite mixed reviews, The Running Man is predicted to gain a devoted following over time. The movie centers around a dangerous and chaotic game show where participants try to survive for 30 days while being hunted by skilled killers. Every action is televised for a thrill-seeking audience, and the reward increases with each passing day.
The Running Man centers around Ben Richards, a working-class man forced to compete in a deadly game show by its cold-hearted producer. Ben quickly becomes popular with viewers thanks to his courage, resourcefulness, and determination, ultimately challenging the show’s very foundation.
The digital release will include more than two and a half hours of bonus material, featuring commentary from writer/director Edgar Wright, actor Glen Powell, and writer Michael Bacall about adapting the novel for film.
The film features four behind-the-scenes segments: “The Hunt Begins,” “The Hunters and the Hunted,” “Welcome to The Running Man: Designing the World,” and “Surviving the Game: Shooting The Running Man.”
The special includes commercials created as if they were part of the show’s universe, an in-depth look behind the scenes, and audition tapes from the contestants, plus other bonus content.
The Running Man debuts on digital platforms on Dec. 16.
