Stephen King leaves X amid claims Elon Musk ‘kicked him off’ platform
As a lifestyle expert who has seen the evolution of social media platforms over the past few decades, I must say that the current state of X is disheartening, to put it mildly. The once-promising platform for free speech and expression has devolved into a battleground of vitriol, misinformation, and toxicity that even a seasoned author like Stephen King finds unbearable.
Stephen King announced he is leaving X as the social media platform has become ‘too toxic’ for him.
On Thursday, the Horror King, aged 77, posted a farewell message on his account, in response to reports that Elon Musk, aged 53, who now owns X (previously known as Twitter), had barred him from the social media site.
He announced that he is departing from Twitter, as the environment has turned increasingly hostile. However, for those who are interested, he invites them to connect with him on Threads instead.
On the day preceding, the author refuted a gossip claiming that Musk had expelled him from X, following his lighthearted comment on the friendship between the billionaire and President-elect Donald Trump.
It seems there are rumors circulating that I referred to the man known as Musk as Trump’s potential new first lady. That’s not true, and I didn’t even consider it. There’s also a rumor suggesting that Muskie removed me from Twitter, but look, here I am.
The writer has spoken out against the Tesla and SpaceX founder a number of times.
Following the Republican candidate’s victory, he has consistently made lighthearted jabs at Musk for backing the winning candidate on several occasions.
In the thrill of being a devoted admirer, I find myself compelled to share that, following Donald Trump’s triumphant presidential election, the illustrious figure I revere joined the growing list of celebrities who have chosen to part ways with the social media platform.
On a recent Wednesday, Jamie Lee Curtis, aged 65, chose Instagram as the platform to announce her decision to step away.
Instead of keeping their account active but no longer posting content like certain accounts did following Musk’s takeover, Curtis chose to fully inactivate the account instead.
Curtis shared her update through an Instagram post, which seemed to be a snapshot captured directly from her personal X account on her mobile device.
The message stated, “Your account has been disabled,” with a small note at the bottom saying, “It’s sad to see you leave. Farewell.” (or simply “Sad to see you go. Goodbye.”)
