Stephen Graham’s London-set drama from Steven Knight gets first-look trailer
As a seasoned viewer of gritty dramas set in the Victorian era, I can hardly contain my excitement for “A Thousand Blows,” especially with Steven Graham and Malachi Kirby leading the cast! With Steven Knight at the helm, this series promises to deliver the same raw energy and compelling storytelling that made “Peaky Blinders” a global sensation.
A first-look trailer for A Thousand Blows starring Steven Graham has been released.
The six-part drama series, penned by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, is set in Victorian London and explores the dangerous world of illegal boxing.
As I watched the thrilling new teaser, they unveiled the character of Sugar Goodson, an experienced and lethal boxer, played by the talented Malachi Kirby from Small Axe. This time, he’s stepping into the ring with a fresh adversary named Hezekiah Moscow.
In the trailer, Sugar snarls menacingly, “I won’t let anyone steal from me and walk away. Not a soul.” As he strides confidently into the boisterous boxing ring, he’s determined to face off against Hezekiah.
Fists fly and violence ensues, laying the foundation for a fresh feud, with this conflict forming the heart of the series.
As a fresh face in London, Hezekiah encounters Mary Carr, famously known for leading an infamous all-female London gang called The Forty Elephants, who seems ready to extend a hand of aid and encouragement to this rising boxing prospect.
She says to him, “You’re currently in London. It guarantees just one thing – it’ll claim your life at the earliest opportunity.
Initially portrayed as a trusted friend to Hezekiah, subsequent footage hints at a blossoming romantic relationship between the two, as they almost share a kiss.
The trailer concludes with Hezekiah declaring: “I have tasted death, life is much sweeter.”
Additionally, noteworthy actors from the cast are Hannah Walters of “Boiling Point” and James Nelson-Joyce from “Time”, as well as Francis Lovehall and Jason Tobin.
Two series of the program have been produced so far, with the premiere of “A Thousand Blows” season one set for release on Disney+ in the year 2025.
This week, it’s been made official that Graham will once more collaborate with Knight for the forthcoming “Peaky Blinders” film. He will resume his character of Hayden Stagg, last seen in season six. Expectedly, this production is slated to hit Netflix screens next year.
A Thousand Blows will stream on Disney+ in 2025.
