Stephen Graham’s Jaw-Dropping Transformation: You Won’t Believe His Incredible Biceps in New Drama!
In the official teaser for A Thousand Blows, creator of Peaky Blinders and SAS Rogue Heroes, Steven Knight, displayed Stephen Graham’s impressively muscled arms.
Starting February 21st, a new six-episode series will explore the dangerous world of underground boxing amid the foggy backdrop of 1880s Victorian London, and can be streamed on Disney+.
In August, Stephen, aged 51, thrilled fans with his amazing makeover as he revealed his new muscular physique, having undergone a significant change for an intense acting part in the forthcoming Disney+ series.
In the latest preview, an bare-chested Stephen was spotted in a boxing arena, appearing anxious prior to a bout.
The trailer introduces Malachi Kirby as Hezekiah Moscow, who comes to 1880s London with his companion Francis Lovehall (Alec Munroe) from Jamaica. Here, they encounter Erin Doherty’s character, Mary Carr, who leads the powerful all-female gang known as the Forty Elephants.
Mary begins using Hezekiah’s skill for boxing in the hidden illegal fight circuit, but Stephen’s Sugar Goodson, a formidable ruler in this world, threatens to crush him instead.
After Hannah Walters, Stephen’s stylish spouse, aged 50 and married to the renowned Liverpool actor since 2008, shared that she is thoroughly captivated by her husband’s impressive physical transformation as seen in his latest physique, a trailer for his new project was unveiled.
She shared that she has been acquainted with this man since he turned 19 years old, and I must say, I am quite content with how things have turned out for us. (Said to British Airways’ High Life magazine)
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that I, the TV tough guy, will make my debut on Disney+, showcasing my muscular and ink-adorned physique as Sugar Goodson, a seasoned fighter, in Stephen Knight’s new drama series. The series, which is a product of the creator of Peaky Blinders, will be available for streaming starting February 21.
In a recent interview, which marked his first since the controversial outburst at the referee last month, Stephen took time to discuss and reminisce about his remarkable body change during the shooting of the eagerly awaited new dramatic series.
During filming, the actor from Peaky Blinders noted: “I reached the age of 50, yet I’m at my physical peak and likely never looked better.
In my own words, I’d share that I’ve been open about the strategies behind my recent muscular transformation, which I proudly displayed during a photoshoot for The Halyard Liverpool’s Vignette Collection. This was after countless hours of rigorous training at the Premier Gym in Leicester.
Although he spent numerous hours at the gym pushing heavy weights, altering his diet proved to be a challenging task for him.
The actor from Line of Duty shared: ‘It took me 4 months to get into top shape. Everything was done correctly. I underwent blood tests, and my meal plan was planned out for me.’
I strictly adhered to my exercise regimen. I hit the gym four times a week, focusing on intense weightlifting sessions, and engaged in boxing training for the remaining three days of the week.
‘It was immensely delightful, yet quite challenging. The challenge primarily came from the meals. I found myself consuming food in large amounts to gain muscle mass. Lots of whey, carbs, and protein were part of my daily diet, totaling around 3,000 calories per day. It’s tough to fit that much into your system.’
In a six-part drama series set against the backdrop of forbidden boxing rings in Victorian London, Stephen plays the role of Henry ‘Sugar Goodson, a popular local contender. His character finds himself embroiled in a lethal feud with Hezekiah Moscow, a fresh face from Jamaica, portrayed by Malachi Kirby in Small Axe.
The actor revealed that he channelled two well-known boxers who inspired his performance.
He mentioned that he aimed to imitate the style of Mike Tyson and Lenny McLean, known as the ‘Guv’nor’ in unlicensed boxing. He wanted to replicate Tyson’s impressive build and raw power, along with Lenny’s fierce snarl and explosive temper.
Strive to emerge victorious through whatever methods are available. Use tactics like elbows or head-butts, if needed. This isn’t about who can tickle best; it’s about raw, unarmed combat.
Despite being a fictionalised series, the drama is based on people who actually lived.
Stephen remarked, ‘This series has a genuine feel because it’s grounded in reality. Although it’s dramatized, it’s inspired by actual individuals and occurrences.’
As a die-hard fan here, let me share some exciting news! My beloved Hannah, who’s not just my better half but also an executive producer on our favorite series, brilliantly portrays Eliza Moody in the gripping boxing drama we all adore. You might remember her stellar performances alongside me in “This Is England” and “Boiling Point.” It’s always a treat to see her shine on screen!
Stephen will soon portray Douglas, Bruce Springsteen’s father, in an upcoming biography – a role personally selected for him by the “Born in the USA” artist himself.
In a different wording, Stephen said: ‘Jeremy Allen White portrays Springsteen and I am his father, Douglas. The Boss himself gave his approval of my casting. He personally told our director, “I adore him, he’s terrific.” It left me astounded, wondering “Could it be that Bruce Springsteen recognizes me?” It turned out that not only had he watched This Is England, but he also admired my performance as Capone in Boardwalk Empire. Isn’t that simply incredible?’
A few months prior to when fans initially saw Stephen in his fresh role, the actor started rigorous preparations by teaming up with Premier Gym.
He posted a video on social media, taken during his initial visit to the gym in September 2022, accompanied by the caption: ‘Exercise regimen begins…’ or simply ‘Gym training begins!’
In the video, Stephen kicked off his routine by doing cardio exercises on a rowing machine first, then transitioned to weightlifting machines such as the tricep rope puller.
The video additionally demonstrated the actor performing push-ups while wearing weights attached to his ankles, followed by different exercises using weight machines for arm extensions and bicep curls.
Stephen collaborated with professional bodybuilder Rob Thurston on a muscle-building regimen that involved performing strenuous exercises such as push-ups while wearing weights attached to him, aiming to strengthen his physique.
In February 2023, Rob personally posted a video showcasing intense workout techniques he used, explaining that these methods helped him gain muscle and reduce body fat for his role as a boxer.
He titled the post: “Working hard and seeing results! Stephen Graham has undergone a remarkable physical change, gaining significant muscle mass while reducing body fat, all in preparation for his upcoming role in a new show by the creator of Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight.
Stephen’s interview surfaces following allegations that he might be under investigation by the FA, due to his outburst using offensive language during a soccer game.
According to reports, the actor from Line of Duty was alleged to have launched disrespectful remarks towards the referee David Kennedy during last weekend’s match at Barrow Town in Leicestershire.
Based on The Sun’s report, the match was temporarily halted for about eight minutes as the referee refused to proceed until the actor stepped away from the sidelines due to Stephen’s outburst.
He allegedly referred to the referee as a “disrespectful Tinkerbell” and an “overweight, good-for-nothing Dumbo,” and further inquired if he had ever experienced bullying during his school years.
After a local FA investigation into his behavior, the actor from “The Boiling Point” later issued an apology for his outburst.
Onlookers asserted that, during the Barrow Town versus Heather St John’s Reserves match last Saturday, Stephen suddenly lost control without any apparent cause.
It’s alleged that he criticized the referee for acting arrogantly, and there are reports suggesting he made an inappropriate comment related to a sexual act.
It’s also claimed Stephen boasted about being famous, saying: ‘Google me, I’m on Netflix.’
According to the source, his behavior was utterly appalling, leaving both the referee and everyone present equally shocked.
He correctly decided not to proceed with the game until Graham had departed. In time, he conceded to move to the bar, allowing the game to resume.
According to reports, Stephen allegedly apologized to the referee immediately following the game, and later on, he made another apology call two days afterward.
