Stephen Graham’s ITV crime drama is now available on Netflix
As a seasoned gamer of both the small screen and the big issues of our society, I must say that The Walk-In is a gripping drama that hits close to home. With Stephen Graham, a familiar face from Line of Duty and Boiling Point, taking on the lead role, it’s clear this series is no walk in the park.
Starting December 1, the gripping 2022 drama by ITV titled “The Walk-In“, inspired by real events, can now be streamed on Netflix.
The five-part series features Stephen Graham (known for his roles in “Line of Duty” and “Boiling Point”) as Matthew Collins, a former member of a radical right-wing group who turned informant, aiming to dismantle extremist elements within Britain, eventually joining the anti-racism organization Hope Not Hate.
The British play was penned by Jeff Pope, a screenwriter who has been nominated for an Oscar. His past television works include “Little Boy Blue,” where Graham had a prominent role, as well as “Hatton Garden” featuring Timothy Spall and “A Confession” with Martin Freeman and Siobhan Finneran. These shows are now available on Netflix.
Lately, Pope served as an executive producer for the BBC’s drama titled “The Reckoning,” where Steve Coogan assumed the main character.
In addition to the main cast, Shvorne Marks (from ‘Endeavour’), Jason Flemyng (known for ‘Boiling Point’ and ‘A Town Called Malice’), Leanne Best (‘The Bay’ and ‘Four Lives’), Dean-Charles Chapman (‘Game of Thrones’), and Andrew Ellis (‘This Is Going to Hurt’) are also part of the cast in this production.
As a gamer, I’ve learned that sometimes, to ensure a game runs smoothly and safely, creators might change a title or alter its content. That’s exactly what happened with The Walk-In, as reported by The Guardian. To maintain secrecy and avoid any potential issues, the production team kept it under wraps without any publicity in the lead-up to the drama.
In an interview given in 2022, a month prior to the show’s premiere, Matthew Collins stated that security measures were incredibly strict and there had been debates regarding the possibility of revealing a comprehensive list of all those involved.
The show first aired on ITV in October 2022, and afterwards, a documentary titled “Nazi Hunters: The Real Walk-In” was shown, following the final episode of the drama series. This separate documentary can still be streamed on ITVX.
The Walk-In originally aired on ITV and is now on Netflix.
