Stephen Graham’s hit BBC series has no plan to return despite perfect Rotten Tomatoes score

Stephen Graham’s hit BBC series Boiling Point has no current plans to return.

The four-act play serves as a sequel to the 2021 film with the same title, focusing on Vinette Robinson’s character, Carly, who assumes control of her mentor Andy’s (Graham) kitchen following his heart attack.

In October 2023, the show was warmly received by critics, resulting in a flawless rating of 100% on the aggregate review platform, Rotten Tomatoes.

Although Digital Spy has achieved significant acclaim with it, they acknowledge that the BBC does not foresee another season at this time. Nevertheless, there’s speculation that it might return in the future.

In 2021, an innovative film, featuring a continuous take, garnered widespread acclaim upon its release. It received an exceptionally high rating of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes and was nominated for four categories at the prestigious BAFTA Film Awards.

Alongside Graham and Robinson, the sequel series also brought back Hannah Walters from Time, Ray Panthaki from Marcella, Áine Rose Daly from Jack Ryan, and Izuka Hoyle from Big Boys.

Although Boiling Point won’t be coming back, Graham is collaborating with its director, Philip Barantini, once more on the upcoming Netflix crime drama titled Adolescence.

In the four-episode run, Graham takes on the role of Eddie Miller, a character whose world is shaken when his 13-year-old child Jamie (played by Owen Cooper) is accused of the tragic murder of a classmate from his school.

In the new series, actor Ashley Walters from “Top Boy” portrays Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe, while Erin Doherty, known for her role in “The Crown,” assumes the part of a psychologist specializing in clinical psychology who has been assigned to Jamie’s case.

Graham has also co-created and written the series with Jack Thorne, while Barantini directs.
