The crime drama Orthodox, starring Stephen Graham, is now available to stream in the UK. Released in 2015, the movie tells the story of a young Jewish boy who learns to box for self-defense, and how that skill leads to difficult circumstances later in life.

Orthodox tells the story of Benjamin, a young boy who faces bullying because of his Jewish religion. He starts boxing to protect himself, but this choice causes tension and distance between him and his religious community.

In a review, The Times described the film as a crime story with an unexpected element, praising director and writer David Leon for creating a moody atmosphere. However, the review also noted that much of the film feels unoriginal and unremarkable, except for a captivating performance by Graham.
Both Graham and Michael Smiley deliver strong performances in a dark and atmospheric movie, according to Time Out. However, HeyUGuys felt the film showed potential but ultimately lacked the necessary quality to fully succeed.
Orthodox was given a cinema release in 2016, though largely went under the radar at the time.
Graham had a fantastic 2025, co-creating and starring in the Netflix series Adolescence, which won him three Emmy Awards.
Following the show’s popularity, the actor has released a new book titled Letters to Our Sons. It’s designed to build on the discussions about harmful ideas about masculinity that were featured in the series.
Graham and Orly Klein are asking fathers everywhere to contribute to their project by sharing personal stories, advice, and feelings – both the good and the bad – with their sons.
