Stephen Graham has won three Emmy awards as his Adolescence co-star Owen Cooper has set a new record.
Hollywood hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards last night, where Netflix’s popular and critically praised mini-series won six awards.
Graham won two awards: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, and Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series or Movie, which he shared with Jack Thorne.

The show, co-created by Graham and Thorne, also received the award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Paul Mescal’s Emmy win for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series made him the youngest male actor to ever receive the award.
Scott Jacoby held the previous record, winning at age 16 in 1953. However, Roxana Zal remains the youngest Emmy winner ever, having won at just 14 years old in 1984.

Cooper said attending the ceremony felt incredibly unreal, especially considering he only started acting a few years ago.
He also dedicated his win to “the people behind the camera”.
Meanwhile, Graham’s acceptance speech saw him pay tribute to his Jamaican and Swedish heritage.
He explained that something like this usually happens to other people, not someone like him – a kid of mixed heritage from the Kirkby housing projects.
Standing here with all of you and receiving this recognition is incredibly humbling, and it proves that anything you set your mind to is achievable.

The show also received awards for Doherty, recognized as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, and for Philip Barantini, who won Outstanding Directing in the same category.
At the Creative Arts Emmys, which took place a week earlier, Adolescence won three further awards.
Okay, so the show actually racked up some awards! Shaheen Baig won for casting – seriously, the actors were perfect – and Matthew Lewis got recognized for the amazing cinematography. Plus, the behind-the-scenes look, *The Making of Adolescence*, won an award for being a fantastic short-form documentary or reality series. It was all pretty cool to see!
Adolescence is available to stream on Netflix.
