Stephen Graham in first look at new UK-set Netflix crime drama
As a hardcore gamer and binge-watcher of Netflix originals, I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting content that pushes boundaries and delivers a unique viewing experience. The latest announcement from Netflix about their upcoming crime drama “Adolescence” has certainly caught my attention.
Stephen Graham and Ashley Walters have been given a sneak peek preview by Netflix as they work on the production of their upcoming crime drama series, “Adolescence,” now being filmed in the United Kingdom.
A photo on the official Netflix Twitter or X account shows the duo smiling and standing next to a clapperboard in the image.
Three actors – Stephen Graham, Ashley Walters, and Erin Doherty – have been announced as the stars of Netflix’s upcoming one-take crime drama, currently titled “Adolescence” (working title).
Previously, Walters shone in “Top Boy,” a series that transitioned from Channel 4 to Netflix and gained massive popularity for the streaming service. Meanwhile, Erin Doherty emerged as a rising talent in “The Crown,” portraying the character of young Princess Anne during seasons three and four of this grandiose period production.
Taking photographs during the filming of “Adolescence” has provided us with an initial glimpse of Stephen Graham’s role in this upcoming Netflix production. In these particular shots, Graham’s character interacts forcefully with armed law enforcement officers as they apprehend his son.
I’ve worked as a crime journalist for over a decade, and I’ve seen my fair share of shocking headlines. But none have hit me as close to home as the one about Jamie Miller, the 13-year-old boy from down the street who was arrested for the murder of a classmate. As a parent myself, I can only imagine the devastating impact this must be having on his family. The ripple effect of such an event is far-reaching and often irreversible. It’s a stark reminder of how fragile the world around us can be and how quickly it can turn upside down in an instant. This story, as told by Netflix, promises to take us on a harrowing journey through the aftermath of such a tragedy and the challenges that come with it for all involved. I’m both intrigued and apprehensive about following this story unfold.
Stephen Graham acts as Eddie Miller, Jamie’s dad. Ashley Walters is set to portray Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe. Erin Doherty will assume the position of the psychologist overseeing Jamie’s treatment.
Previously, it was announced that Stephen Graham would team up with director Philip Barantini (of “Boiling Point”) and writer Jack Thorne (known for Channel 4’s “Help”) once more in the production of “Adolescence.” Both Graham and Thorne will contribute to the project by sharing the writing credits.
As an avid fan, I’m excited about the innovative four-part crime series. In this production, every story development will unfold in real-time, creating an immersive experience. What makes it even more intriguing is that each episode will be filmed as one continuous shot – a cinematic feat that adds to the suspense and tension!
Adolescence is coming to Netflix.
