Stellar Blade’s director throws down the gauntlet at modders, whose ‘firepower is still weak’—all the sexy costumes are cool, he just also wants mods that ‘expand the user’s play experience’
Stellar Blade has been released on PC, so expect an abundance of mods! Approximately 41% of these mods could lean towards the explicit side, based on historical trends and current events.
According to a recent interview with thisisgame (thanks, Automaton), Hyung-tae Kim, the game’s director, is generally optimistic about the upcoming changes. However, he has expressed concerns about malware and has encouraged modders to use their creativity for tweaking the gameplay instead of focusing on modifications related to Stellar Blade(s). In other words, Kim is inviting modders to work on improving the game’s mechanics rather than its specific elements.
Although modders have shown some power so far, it’s not as strong as the original content. It could use a boost. To date, I believe the official offerings are still more satisfying… Mods that introduce new costumes or monster designs are fun, but what would truly enhance the experience is mods that extend the gameplay itself.
Kim acknowledges that Stellar Blade doesn’t offer an official toolset for modifications, making it somewhat challenging to make gameplay adjustments. However, during this interview (which has been translated), it seems that Kim might be using humor when he essentially suggests that modders should improve their skills or abilities.
Kim encourages modders to improve their work, but also values freedom of artistic expression. He is content to coexist harmoniously with gamers who customize the protagonist’s attire in various ways, as Stellar Blade being an adult-themed game allows for such creativity, and Shift Up initially introduced this concept.
As someone who’s been navigating the digital landscape for quite some time now, I wholeheartedly agree that it’s a futile endeavor to regulate adult-oriented mods. The internet, being as vast and dynamic as it is, simply can’t be fenced in. If something is legal, it will find a way to exist, much like a persistent, resilient species in the wild. So, let’s embrace the diversity of our digital world and trust that those who are mature enough to handle such content will do so responsibly.
As a passionate advocate, I’d say it this way: “I trust that as responsible members of our community, you’ll exercise good judgment and respect the social norms and sensitive topics. On the topic of paid mods, I’m more of a believer in fostering a creative environment where everyone can collaborate and enjoy themselves like participants at a lively party.
Well, here I am, sharing my thoughts on mods! They’re a fascinating, collaborative part of our gaming world, no matter how… colorful they might become. Much like what Kim mentioned, I think it’s essential we all embrace this spirit of sharing and unity. Just remember to stay within the law and, before you dive in, don’t forget to give your hands a good wash!
