Stellar Blade Developer Confirms Sequel Plans
Stellar Blade is getting a fully-fledged sequel, developer Shift Up has confirmed.
2024 saw the well-received action game published by PlayStation receive a warm welcome in April, as players praised its blend of mechanics reminiscent of NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Excitingly, I can confirm that my favorite gaming company, Shift Up, has announced a sequel to the Stellar Blade series! This news comes straight from their recently published chart detailing their future projects, which accompanied their latest financial reports released today. I simply can’t wait to see what they have in store for us fans!
According to a presentation slide discussing Shift Up’s future franchise growth plans, it appears a new installment of the Stellar Blade series – along with other anticipated releases – is scheduled for launch prior to 2027.
Prior to the release of the sequel, there’s a hint at an “expansion to the gaming platform” for Stellar Blade – this probably means that the game’s PC version, slated for launch on June 11, 2025, is in development.
During this phase prior to 2027, we’ll witness the unveiling of Project Witches by Shift Up – an exciting, as-yet unrevealed, multiplatform action RPG with a touch of mystery.
This past week, Shift Up announced they were engaged in intensive talks regarding an enigmatic region lock problem for their game on PC, which had made the game’s page unavailable for purchase on Steam in over a hundred nations, as reported by them.
“Stellar Blade stands out as a gorgeous and well-crafted action game with very impressive strengths and very clear weaknesses,” iggn.ru wrote in our Stellar Blade review.
The narrative and characters in this game seem thin, and unfortunately, some aspects of its role-playing mechanics fall short. For instance, the side quests are frequently unengaging, as they often involve revisiting earlier levels with minimal effort made to distinguish or enhance the experience upon return.
However, its performance is significantly strengthened due to the robust foundations of its combat system, modeled after Sekiro, an abundant pool of grotesque creatures to hone your blade on, and numerous secret treasures that effectively motivate thorough exploration.
