Okay, I have to say, Celia Imrie absolutely *killed* it on *The Celebrity Traitors* tonight – and not in the acting sense! Seriously, she farted on TV! I know it sounds ridiculous, but it was hilarious. Everyone knows she’s a brilliant actress, but this just proves how wonderfully funny and down-to-earth she is. I think she’s officially won 2025 already, and honestly, everyone will be talking about this for ages!
Let’s be honest, everything else tonight paled in comparison to Celia’s incredible performance. Forget the drama – she truly stole the show.
And not only was the, er, incident itself hilarious, so was the confession.
What to Read Next
“I just farted, Claudia,” she bluntly admitted in the aftermath, while her co-stars cackled.
If you’ve become a fan of Celia Imrie, here are some fun facts you might enjoy knowing.
1. She has a UK Top 40 hit
Musical fans will remember Celia’s brief role in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again back in 2018.
She not only had a memorable moment acting alongside Lily James as a younger version of Donna, but the experience also led to her first hit song on the UK charts.
James and Imrie’s song ‘When I Kissed The Teacher’ reached its highest position of number 40 on the UK Official Singles Chart in August 2018.
2. She has released six novels
Imrie is well-known as an actor, and has also had success as a singer and author.
I first discovered this author back in 2015 with her book, *Not Quite Nice*, and I’ve been hooked ever since! She’s written a bunch of other great stories too, like *A Nice Cup of Tea*, *Orphans of the Storm*, and *Meet Me at Rainbow Corner*. I’ve read them all!
She’s published six novels and her memoir, *The Happy Hoofer*, which was released in 2011.
3. She’s part of the Star Wars universe – and was “told off” by George Lucas
Did you know Celia Imrie is officially part of Star Wars history?
She plays Bravo 5, a fighter pilot in Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, which came out in 1999.
It’s easy to miss in her long list of films, but she recently shared in an interview with BAFTA that it remains one of her favorite projects to discuss, and is surprisingly popular with fans.
She explained that as a Star Wars pilot, she was never aware of the outcome of her missions – she didn’t know who she had targeted, if she’d succeeded, or even if she would return home safely.
I was completely lost as to what was happening. It felt like my plane, which was painted yellow, was stuck on a carnival ride, being tossed and turned every which way.
I used to spend hours practicing my underwater moves with my goggles, trying to look like a real ace! It was hilarious getting scolded by George Lucas for wearing lipstick, but honestly, being the only female pilot, I figured I could get away with a little something extra.
4. She “begged” for a bigger role in the newest Bridget Jones movie
Imrie is well-known for her work in the *Bridget Jones* movies, and she recently returned to the role in *Mad About The Boy*.
It was great to see her back on screen, though it sounds like she was hoping for a more substantial role than the very brief appearance she got.
She jokingly told *The Observer* that she pleaded with the filmmakers for more screen time, even though she only appears for two seconds in the film. ‘But hey, I’m in it!’ she added with a laugh.
5. She has a surprising family tree
While researching her family history on *Who Do You Think You Are?*, she discovered that one of her ancestors had been imprisoned in the Tower of London for poisoning a romantic partner.
She told *The Observer* a story about her ancestry, mentioning she’s related to William Lord Russell, a man who was considered important enough to be beheaded instead of hanged.
He was later posthumously pardoned.
6. Her son is a star of The Archers
Listeners of the radio drama *The Archers* likely recognize Angus Imrie – you probably know his voice, even if you don’t know the name.
He’s the man behind the character of Josh Archer, son of Ruth and David.
The actor, son of Benjamin Whitrow, is known for his work in several popular shows and films, including Doc Martin, The Crown, Fleabag, and Mickey 17.
The Celebrity Traitors airs on BBC1 on Wednesday and Thursdays at 9pm, and on iPlayer.
