Gamers have even more movie and TV adaptations to look forward to! With popular titles like The Super Mario Bros. Movie already announced, it seems like anything is possible – even a Skibidi Toilet adaptation. Now, a film based on the popular Roblox game Steal a Brainrot is also in the works.
Story Kitchen is teaming up with Roblox to make a movie based on the popular game Steal a Brainrot, created by SpyderSammy in May 2025, reports Deadline. The game is easy to pick up and play, challenging players to gather Brainrots. Players can then collect, buy, and steal more Brainrots from each other, but they also have to protect their own collection from being stolen by others.
With over 55 billion visits since it launched, Steal a Brainrot is a massive hit on Roblox and boasts a very active player base. The game is known for being a quick, funny, and enjoyable experience to play with friends, and it once reached a peak of 25.8 million concurrent players in October 2025. While details about the upcoming movie adaptation are scarce, Story Kitchen promises it will capture the lighthearted and silly energy that makes the game so popular.
Video Game Movies Are Thriving in 2026

Universal
Considering the unique visual style of Steal a Brainrot, a movie version could perform well like A Minecraft Movie, which was a big box office hit with a similar look. Given the game’s huge popularity, the film is likely to attract a large audience. Recent video game adaptations starring popular online creators, like Markiplier’s Iron Lung, have already shown they can be successful and even change how movies are released.
As a gamer, I’m really excited about the upcoming video game movies! 2026 is already looking huge, especially with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie – it feels like it could be massive. While the recent Silent Hill movie didn’t quite hit the mark, 2026 has a lot more promise. We’re getting another Resident Evil film, Mortal Kombat II is coming this summer, and even a new Street Fighter movie! Looking further ahead, Nintendo has hinted at a live-action Legend of Zelda adaptation, and a third Angry Birds movie is in the works. But honestly, the news that Alex Garland – the writer and director behind some amazing films – is working on an Elden Ring adaptation is what really has me hyped!

Although Steal a Brainrot might not appeal to older gamers or movie fans, its popularity will likely attract a younger audience to the theaters. While the movie could receive positive reviews, recent video game adaptations like the Five Nights at Freddy’s and Minecraft films have shown that box office success isn’t always dependent on critical acclaim. More information about the Steal a Brainrot movie will be released as the project moves forward.
