Star’s Friend Reveals ‘Quiet Sacrifices’ After BAFTA Loss
A friend of Stacey Solomon discussed her ‘unassuming acts of self-denial’ following her not winning a BAFTA award, which took place off camera.
35-year-old presenter displayed an uncharacteristic, fiery side during a passionate outburst directed at the BAFTA judges in a heated online post following her defeat for an award at the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises on Sunday evening.
In the Factual Entertainment category, Stacey’s BBC show, “Sort Your Life Out,” faced competition from Rylan Clark and Rob Rinder’s program, “Grand Tour,” ultimately losing the nomination to them.
Yet, even as she applauded the victors, Stacey found herself expressing her disappointment. Her team, in her opinion, deserved the award and had been unfairly overlooked, leaving her to express that they had been unjustly denied it.
Spectators found the mother of five’s complaining attitude unappealing, urging her to maintain composure and stop behaving like a poor sport after losing.

Posting a picture of both, she captioned: ‘You poured your heart into it, and that’s all that truly counts. No label is required to confirm what I already understand – you are a victor in my eyes. My affection for you remains, @staceysolomon and @sortyourlifeout.’
I recognized the hard work you’ve been putting in. I’ve observed the late-night hours, the early risings, and the silent compromises that went unnoticed by others.
‘Your demeanor exuded power, resilience, and elegance. That’s a quality far greater than any title or award.’
Stacey commented ‘Love u’ on the post, with Emma writing back: ‘Ditto’.
In her video showing disappointment after the defeat, Stacey vented: ‘We didn’t get a BAFTA. While I should act composedly and graciously as a winner might, let me confess that I am truly heartbroken!’
I’m really struggling to cope with this, and I’m certainly not hiding my distress – I’m heartbroken! I’m heartbroken not just for myself but for the entire team too. I can hardly contain my sadness for all of us.
Everyone put on their finest attire, brimming with optimism, likely due to their tireless efforts. After all, creating a show like ‘Sort Your Life Out’ isn’t a walk in the park, and the dedicated team truly deserves the BAFTA for their outstanding work.
I believe the Sort Your Life Out team truly merited a BAFTA, but I’m deeply disappointed by their loss. I’m not implying that other recipients didn’t deserve their awards; on the contrary, they certainly did.

Many believe that creating television is a simple task, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Every person involved deserves acknowledgement for their hard work. However, I can’t help but feel disappointed for our Sort Your Life Out team because I truly believed they deserved a BAFTA award. To put it plainly, I am genuinely upset about it.
Moving forward, she explained the process behind creating their show: ‘We dismantle an entire house within a week and transport it to a warehouse, where we carefully unpack it on the floor. We take our time to ensure that nothing is simply discarded.’
We give, reuse, and sell items. Our goal is to return these items to the system and support families as they progress.
She likewise acknowledged the families who willingly share their time and homes with TV viewers, particularly those who face the possibility of being critiqued.
Swishing her garden hose overhead, visibly upset Stacey exclaimed: “I’m truly disappointed!” before commending her entire crew and expressing their determination to put forth their best effort during season six.
Later, spectators suggested that Stacey was revealing more of her genuine personality, as opposed to her typically modest image. They advised the BBC host to mature a bit and expressed that she seems to think too highly of herself.
She might not be as perfect as she appears; Remember, that’s just life, Stacey; Try to stay positive and remember your humble beginnings. Instead of complaining, focus on being grateful for where you are now.
Here’s a more friendly and empathetic rephrasing: “Take this experience as an opportunity to learn, rather than dwelling on being a poor sport. Remember, others may have had an edge or advantage in this instance. Keep your chin up, acknowledge the situation with grace, and continue striving for success.

Just think about all the comforts waiting for you at home – a clean, cozy, welcoming house filled with nourishing food, warmth from your radiators, and the love of your family. Let’s keep things civilized.
1. Revealing her authentic character – unfit for public acceptance; Face the facts, Stacey. Merely desiring something does not guarantee entitlement to it.
2. Acting arrogantly – overstepping boundaries; Seems like she’s developed a sense of superiority; I suspect she’s wearing boots that are too big for her.
3. Displaying her true nature – unbefitting public approval; It appears you’re asking for more than what is deserved, Stacey.
‘She gone so big headed!!!!; Entitlement is off the charts;
It’s fine to feel let down by your team, but believing that you should have received a BAFTA because your show requires effort is rather absurd. Remember, you chose the job and are likely compensated generously for it. Many genuinely hardworking individuals don’t receive such recognition or remuneration, and often they don’t even think they deserve it.
Yet, some people disagreed, arguing that Stacey was ‘remarkably candid’ instead, and felt ‘disappointed on behalf of her team.’
They wrote: ‘It seemed to them that she wasn’t expressing anger, but rather voicing her disappointment on behalf of her team. There was no sign of a rant.’
Why do you feel uncomfortable acknowledging your deep disappointment? I find it genuinely authentic when people are open about their feelings like that!

Amidst the controversy, Rylan too shared his thoughts about his BAFTA victory, along with a collection of photos from the event, on Instagram.
In a lenghy caption, he wrote: ‘Last night we won a @bafta.
Unexpectedly, here I am composing this message, yet filled with immense gratitude. I couldn’t be more proud of the extraordinary creation that unfolded with Rob and Rylan.
Our exceptional team truly outdid themselves, crafting a spectacle that turned out to be something truly extraordinary. I couldn’t have wished for a more talented group to work alongside.
Dear @robrinder, I want to express my gratitude for your exceptional kindness and for accompanying me on this beautiful adventure. It’s a true delight to call you my friend, and I’m overjoyed that we can celebrate this victory together.

Before the event, Stacey posted several pictures on Instagram showcasing her stunning attire. She mentioned that this outfit was crafted using her wedding dress she wore during her marriage to Joe Swash in July 2022.
She displayed her slim waistline and well-toned legs in a revamped dress transformed into a trendy jumpsuit. She emphasized that wearing her wedding attire just once seemed like an unfortunate waste to her.
Instead of the original dress’s off-the-shoulder sleeves, Stacey chose to eliminate them, instead enhancing the neckline with striking, pointed details.
As she switched her skirt for shorts, there was an alluring thigh-high split added to the shimmering fabric layer of the previous skirt, revealing her well-toned legs below.
Sharing the charming story behind her ensemble, Stacey additionally disclosed her reasoning for choosing to don her cherished wedding dress once more.
She chose to alter her wedding gown for today’s event, as she finds it wasteful to wear such a dress only once. She felt excited about taking it out of its box and using it on another memorable occasion.
I’m truly grateful to Faye Sawyer Stylist and Issy for turning my wedding dress into such a unique and stunning piece. You two are amazing, and I adore you both. Thank you, Penny, for making me feel beautiful yet again. Wishing us luck! Keep your fingers crossed.
