Starfleet Academy show starts production, with approval from Elon Musk
As a lifelong Star Trek enthusiast with memories of watching reruns on TV while growing up, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming series, “Starfleet Academy.” The show promises to bring us into the heart of the academy where cadets learn to become leaders in space.
Over the last few years, numerous “Star Trek” shows have been created, ranging from “Discovery” and “Picard” to “Strange New Worlds” and “Lower Decks”, all available on Paramount+. The most ambitious project might yet be in store: “Starfleet Academy” follows a fresh batch of cadets discovering the essence of leadership in the unknown. Production has now begun, and here’s a look at the cast assembled for the show:
The cast is part of the reason I describe this show as ambitious. The new recruits will be played by the likes of Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané and Zoë Steiner, and Sandro Rosta, who are mostly unknown to the wider public. But the captain and chancellor of Starfleet Academy will be played by Oscar winner Holly Hunter, probably best known these days as the voice of Elastigirl in The Incredibles movies. If you want to see what she can do in live-action, check out movies like The Piano, Raising Arizona or Broadcast News. She brings some serious acting firepower to the show.
Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that Paul Giamatti will take on a villainous role in the series! Although he hasn’t won an Oscar, his two Academy Award nominations (for “Cinderella Man” and “The Holdovers”) are still quite impressive. Furthermore, notable “Star Trek” veterans such as Tig Notaro, Oded Fehr, and Mary Wiseman from “Star Trek: Discovery”, along with Robert Picardo from “Star Trek: Voyager”, will make appearances in “Starfleet Academy”. Plus, there are rumors that Paramount+ is constructing massive sets for the show, suggesting they’re aiming for something grand!
Elon Musk wants to make a real-life Starfleet Academy
Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau are set to jointly oversee the production of the TV series “Starfleet Discovery“. It’s not yet clear when the show will air, but it’s likely that Elon Musk, a tech mogul known for his companies Tesla, SpaceX, Twitter/X, and more, as well as being one of the world’s wealthiest individuals, will be among its viewers. When production on “Starfleet Academy” was announced, Musk took to Twitter to express his enthusiasm: “Let’s bring Starfleet Academy to life!”
Let’s make Starfleet Academy real!

It’s no wonder that Elon Musk, who is known for his passionate pursuit of Mars colonization, would be keen on establishing a school teaching space exploration. After all, many tech leaders often draw inspiration from science fiction, especially the legendary series like Star Trek. This isn’t just common, it’s almost become a stereotype in the industry.
Well, thoughts can originate in various places, right? So, why not spark some inspiration from the world of “Star Trek”? Let’s keep our eyes peeled for updates on the launch date for “Starfleet Academy” or Elon Musk’s interstellar learning institution!
