Starfield 2 Should Be 'One Hell of a Game' According to Former Bethesda Veteran

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Starfield 2 has the potential to be the Skyrim to Oblivion for many reasons. Having witnessed the evolution of games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect series, I am optimistic about what Bethesda can achieve with Starfield 2.

According to ex-Bethesda designer Bruce Nesmith, Starfield 2 might be what Skyrim was to Oblivion – a significantly improved and “incredible” follow-up to the science fiction role-playing game.

Previously-employed designer Nesmith (who left Bethesda in 2021) compares Starfield 2 to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a game that thrived on the expertise Bethesda had cultivated from previous titles like Oblivion and Morrowind. In essence, it’s similar to how the first Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect games were followed by their sequels that surpassed their predecessors in quality.

Nesmith expressed excitement for Starfield 2, stating, “I believe it’s going to be an exceptional game as it aims to fill the gaps that some fans have pointed out. It will build on what’s already there, adding plenty of new elements and addressing many of the issues.

Nesmith continued by explaining that Skyrim built upon the benefits derived from their work on Oblivion and Morrowind. Essentially, they were able to utilize what they’d already created, allowing them to focus on refining and adding new elements instead of starting completely anew. If they had to start afresh, it would have added another two or three years to the development process.

Starfield game was released back in September, and it just received its eagerly anticipated Shattered Space expansion. However, it seems that we won’t be seeing Starfield 2 anytime soon, as Bethesda is probably focusing on The Elder Scrolls VI, which is speculated to come out no earlier than 2026. We certainly won’t be counting our chickens before they hatch.
