Heritage Auctions will be hosting an extraordinary event, the “Hollywood/Entertainment Signature Auction,” from July 16-18, 2025, in Beverly Hills, where they will assemble some of the most renowned artifacts of cinematic history.
The standout features at this event include a miniature X-Wing from Luke Skywalker (used in “The Empire Strikes Back”) and Indiana Jones’ whip from “The Last Crusade”, with both items expected to be sold for over $200,000 each.
This hero model, roughly measuring 12 inches by 11 inches by 2 inches, showcases Luke’s iconic red stripes and includes an astromech compartment housing R2-D2. Significantly used in pivotal scenes from ‘Empire’ on Hoth, Dagobah, and Cloud City, it has previously sold for $328,125 (in 2023). The bidding war has already surpassed $200,000 with the added buyer’s premium, further escalating the excitement among Star Wars enthusiasts.
Among the most valuable Indiana Jones artifacts to go up for auction is a whip used by Harrison Ford’s character in the climactic scenes of “The Last Crusade,” specifically during the Grail Temple sequences. This very same whip was also presented to Prince Charles in 1989 and has since been authenticated by Lucasfilm. With a buyer’s premium, it has already sold for more than $200,000.
- An X-wing pilot display costume – currently priced at only $2,000 – from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (TCF, 1977), handcrafted by Andrew Ainsworth.
- I Dream of Jeannie’s genie bottle, pre-bidding near $250,000.
- Wyatt Earp’s Colt revolver from Tombstone, at $67,500, is listed alongside other Hollywood lore essentials from For Your Eyes Only and Austin Powers.
As a movie enthusiast, I wholeheartedly agree with Heritage’s Joe Maddalena when he stated that these aren’t just props, they are mythic artifacts. From the camera used by Cecil B. DeMille and the iconic sled named Rosebud, to Luke Skywalker’s X-wing fighter and Indiana Jones’ whip, each of these items carries a significant piece of Hollywood history. They represent the greatest moments on the silver screen, weaving together memories, performances, and legends that have captivated audiences for generations.
He went on to express, ‘It’s an honor for us to share these items with fans, collectors, and establishments that will ensure they are preserved for future generations.’
Instead of being mere collectibles, these artifacts embody tales of historical significance, ready to unfold their next chapter. Members of the public are invited to visit and experience them personally at Heritage’s gallery in Beverly Hills from June 25 to July 1.
As a cinephile, here’s your chance to get your hands on a genuine relic from the silver screen. Whether it’s the nostalgia of Star Wars or the adrenaline rush of Indiana Jones’ escapades that captivates you, the excitement soars when pieces like these go under the hammer at auction.
