Star Wars: Update on Adam Driver’s Return After Ben Solo Movie Tease

Following comments from Adam Driver, known for his role in Star Wars, about a scrapped solo movie focusing on his character Kylo Ren, fans have started wondering if he might return to the Star Wars galaxy. People are particularly interested in why the actor is only now sharing that he had previously planned to continue playing the popular character in a film set after 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

Will Adam Driver return to Star Wars?

Despite recent comments from actor Giancarlo Esposito, sources at The InSneider report that Lucasfilm doesn’t intend to bring him back into the Star Wars universe. They also suggest this is unlikely to change, as Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is anticipated to leave her role next year.

According to writer Drew Driver, he and director Steven Soderbergh were working on a film focused on Kylo Ren. Despite the character’s popularity with fans, Disney executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman rejected the project, which was to be called ‘The Hunt for Ben Solo.’ Although Lucasfilm liked the idea, Iger and Bergman couldn’t reconcile the story with Kylo Ren’s apparent death at the end of ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’

Naomi Ackie last appeared as Rey in the 2019 film The Rise of Skywalker, directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams. The movie, which also starred Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, and Jodie Comer, earned over $1 billion worldwide, despite receiving varied reactions from critics.
