Star Wars to get new trilogy from X-Men director

As a seasoned gamer and lifelong Star Wars fan, the latest news about a new trilogy from Simon Kinberg has me buzzing with anticipation! With his experience in the X-Men franchise and his work on Star Wars Rebels, I’m confident that he’ll bring a fresh perspective to the galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars will be getting a brand new trilogy from X-Men director and producer Simon Kinberg.

As reported by Deadline, Kinberg is set to script and produce a trilogy of movies within the expansive Star Wars universe, with Kathleen Kennedy, head of Lucasfilm, confirmed as a producer for the series.

Lucasfilm and Disney have declined to comment on these upcoming projects.

At this point, it remains undetermined exactly where these three movies will be placed within the Star Wars universe, contradicting earlier assumptions that they would constitute Episodes 10-12 in the Skywalker Saga.

The article indicates that the upcoming trilogy might initiate a fresh chapter for the Star Wars movie realm, joining other ventures being worked on by directors such as Taika Waititi, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Dave Filoni, and James Mangold.

Furthermore, Jon Favreau is developing a spin-off series for the Disney+ show “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” featuring Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver as its stars.

The upcoming project by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is likely to focus on a standalone story for Daisy Ridley’s character, Rey, from Episodes 7 through 9. In a recent statement, Ridley shared that the movie for her character in Star Wars has turned out to be “something different” than what she initially anticipated.

She recently shared with Collider that she’s quite thrilled and finds the story fascinating. She’s eagerly awaiting a script, as there are currently no other developments to report.

Previously engaged in producing the X-Men series prior to the merger of Disney and Fox, Simon Kinberg has also written and directed X-Men: Dark Phoenix, now serving as writer-producer for the upcoming Star Wars trilogy.

Kinberg received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture for producing The Martian and has previous Star Wars experience from writing and producing the animated series Star Wars Rebels. He consulted on Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as well.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, along with the entire Skywalker Saga, can be streamed on Disney+. Additionally, you can purchase the movie on DVD, Blu-ray, or even in 4K format.
