It looks like Lucasfilm is planning a new story for Kylo Ren. After they cancelled the ‘Hunt for Ben Solo‘ project, the latest issue of the ‘Legacy of Vader’ comic strongly suggests another Ben Solo-focused adventure is in the works, implying that the Star Wars saga isn’t finished with this character.
New Kylo Ren project hinted in the final issue of Legacy of Vader
Even though Lucasfilm decided not to continue Ben Solo’s story in movies, recent comics hint that Kylo Ren’s story might not be over. The latest issue of the Marvel comic series Legacy of Vader ends with a suggestion that his journey will continue.
Written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Luke Ross, this comic series takes place between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, focusing on Kylo Ren’s time as Supreme Leader. It delves into his struggle to bury his identity as Ben Solo and fully commit to the dark side. However, the story doesn’t offer a clear resolution to this internal conflict, leaving some important parts of Kylo’s journey unfinished.
During a dramatic scene at Darth Vader’s fortress on Mustafar, Kylo Ren has a strong Force vision that makes him face his lingering emotional struggles. The scene highlights how he can’t fully escape his past. The issue ends with Kylo being forcefully thrown out of a secret room belonging to Vader, leaving what happens next uncertain (according to ScreenRant).
The last page adds to the uncertainty with a final message stating, “The reign ends. The fall begins. Kylo Ren… will return.” This suggests the story isn’t truly finished and could continue beyond the current films, rather than being a definitive ending.
The story of Legacy of Vader leaves some questions unanswered, notably what happened to the Knights of Ren. We see them led by Tava Ren at this point, but the story doesn’t explain how Kylo Ren eventually takes back leadership before the events of The Rise of Skywalker.
However, as of now, no follow-up project has been formally announced.
