Star Wars fans are loving one surprise return in The Mandalorian & Grogu’s spectacular new trailer

Fans of Star Wars are excited about the return of Din Djarin, the popular bounty hunter, in the trailer for the new movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu. The film, directed by Jon Favreau and co-written with Dave Filoni, will see Din Djarin and his young companion, Grogu (also known as Baby Yoda), working to protect the New Republic from the last of the Imperial forces after the Empire’s defeat.

After a controversial Super Bowl commercial, a new trailer revealed more about the latest actors joining the Star Wars universe, like Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt and Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, a leader in the New Republic. However, it was a surprise cameo that really got people talking.

The short clip includes a quick appearance by Embo, a popular character from the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It’s a very brief moment, easy to miss!

Fans are excited that Embo, a character from The Mandalorian and Grogu, has been brought to life in live-action and are hoping he, along with his companion Marrok, will appear in more than just a single episode.

When the new trailer was released today, Star Wars fans immediately shared their excitement online, especially about a brief scene featuring a beloved character. One fan commented on YouTube, “It’s like Embo never left!”

One fan expressed concern that the character shouldn’t be killed off, referencing the disappointing handling of Boba Fett and stating he’s too interesting to only appear briefly in live action.

One fan said Embo was their favorite bounty hunter and they were happily surprised to see him brought to life. Another commenter jokingly wished they could see him throw his hat like a frisbee at someone.

The trailer delivered several surprises, including Din Djarin removing his helmet, Grogu facing danger, and the pair encountering the Hutts during their dangerous journey.

The trailer isn’t all action – it also includes adorable scenes of The Child. We see him playfully stealing a small spaceship-like stroller from a baby Rodian (let’s call him Baby Greedo!), enjoying cookies, and even trying on miniature armor.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is released in cinemas on 22 May 2026.
