Star Wars Eyeing 11th MCU Actor for Movie-TV Role

As a diehard fan, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! It seems that one of Marvel’s celebrated stars might be venturing into the Star Wars Universe. According to recent reports, Lucasfilm is considering this popular Marvel actor for an upcoming Star Wars film or Disney+ series. This move adds another Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) star to the already impressive lineup who’ve graced both franchises.

According to the inside scoop from Daniel Richtman, it seems Lucasfilm has shown interest in bringing Chris Evans, famously known for his role as Captain America, into the Star Wars Universe. Although specifics about whether he’s being considered for a Disney+ series or a future film remain undisclosed, there’s no denying that securing such a marquee Marvel Cinematic Universe actor would be an impressive addition to the Star Wars franchise.

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a flutter of excitement as rumors swirl and fan speculation escalates regarding Chris Evans’ potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday. The recent news that Marvel Studios has brought back Evans’ MCU compatriot, Robert Downey Jr., as Doctor Doom certainly adds fuel to the fire.

This development is particularly intriguing given Evans’ upcoming reprisal of his 2005 Fantastic Four role as Johnny Storm in the 2024 film, Deadpool & Wolverine, a fact that Daniel Richtman reported on two years prior to the movie’s release.

Moreover, the enigma surrounding the status of Evans’ Steve Rogers within the MCU remains unresolved, leaving fans like me eagerly awaiting any official update from Marvel Studios.

Currently, Lucasfilm has multiple Star Wars movies planned, including “The Mandalorian & Grogu” set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026, followed by “Star Wars: Starfighter,” starring Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth, in 2027. The films “New Jedi Order” featuring Daisy Ridley and “Dawn of the Jedi” directed by James Mangold are still under development. In terms of live-action streaming series, a second season for “Ahsoka” is upcoming, and there may be another season of “Obi-Wan Kenobi.

If reports are true that Chris Evans might soon be part of that distant galaxy tale, either through a movie or series, such news would create quite a stir among fans and industry professionals alike. However, it’s important to remember that he wouldn’t be the first actor to have starred in both iconic franchise series.

MCU Actors Who Also Appeared in Star Wars

Natalie Portman

Prior to portraying Jane Foster in both Thor and Thor: The Dark World, and later as Mighty Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder, Natalie Portman was known for her role as Padmé Amidala, a queen from the planet Naboo who had romantic ties with Anakin Skywalker. She also played the mother of Luke and Leia in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, before these Marvel movies were made.

Samuel L. Jackson

In 2012, Samuel L. Jackson played the role of Jedi Master Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, where he brandished a purple lightsaber. Prior to that, he united an extraordinary team in The Avengers and suffered an eye scratch from a Flerken creature. To this day, Jackson remains uncertain about the circumstances surrounding his character’s fall through a window, which was orchestrated by Palpatine.

Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac’s fame significantly increased following his captivating portrayal as the Resistance pilot Poe Dameron in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” After reprising this role in “The Last Jedi” and “The Rise of Skywalker,” Marvel recognized his talent and cast him for the character Marc Spector in “Moon Knight.” In this series, Isaac demonstrated his versatility as an actor by portraying multiple characters and personalities.

Lupita Nyong’o

As a devoted Star Wars enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at Lupita Nyong’o’s mesmerizing performance as the enigmatic Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Later, she gracefully stepped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Nakia in 2018’s blockbuster Black Panther. In a stunning turn of events, Nyong’o reappeared in 2022’s sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where it was unveiled that her character was the mother of T’Challa’s son, a revelation made in the post-credits scene.

Hannah John-Kamen

Prior to portraying the character Ava Starr/Ghost in “Ant-Man and The Wasp” and more recently in “Thunderbolts,” Hannah John-Kamen was previously a First Order Officer in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” It has been confirmed that the actress from “Thunderbolts” will extend Ghost’s story and add to her Marvel Cinematic Universe credits in the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday.

Paul Bettany

In contrast to other actors who initially starred in Marvel or Star Wars, Paul Bettany first voiced JARVIS and later played the character Vision within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Later, he was cast as Dryden Vos in Solo: A Star Wars Story in 2018. Post that, Bettany continued to portray the role of Vision on Disney+ in WandaVision and is now set to reappear in Vision Quest on the same platform. In this upcoming project, Bettany will be seen as White Vision alongside a group of MCU artificial intelligence characters embodied as humans.

Pedro Pascal

Pedro Pascal’s portrayal of Din Djarin in the groundbreaking live-action Star Wars series, “The Mandalorian” on Disney+ significantly boosted his acting career. Following this success, he was cast by Marvel Studios as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” a renowned comic book role. He is set to continue playing this iconic character in “Avengers: Doomsday.

Taika Waititi

As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but marvel at the multifaceted talent that is Taika Waititi. Not only has he masterfully directed the blockbusters “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Thor: Love and Thunder,” as well as an episode of “The Mandalorian,” but he’s also stepped into the roles of some of our favorite Marvel and Star Wars characters. In his two “Thor” films and “Avengers: Endgame,” Waititi lent his voice to the lovable rock-man character, Korg. And in “The Mandalorian,” he brought both IG-11 and IG-12 to life, proving once again that he’s a creative force to be reckoned with!

Kumail Nanjiani

After delivering an impressive performance as the immortal Bollywood star Kingo in Marvel Studios’ “Eternals”, the engaging actor transitioned into the Star Wars realm, portraying Haja Estree, a trickster, in “Obi-Wan Kenobi” for Disney+.

Emilia Clarke

Following her standout performance in “Game of Thrones”, Emilia Clarke was chosen by Lucasfilm to star in “Solo: A Star Wars Story”. In this film, she portrayed Han Solo’s love interest named Qi’ra. Later, Marvel Studios brought Clarke together with a previous Star Wars cast member, Samuel L. Jackson, for the 2023 Disney+ series titled “Secret Invasion”.

Dafne Keen

2017 saw Dafne Keen’s introduction to the Marvel universe with her portrayal of Laura/X-23 (child clone of Wolverine) in “Logan”. Although she didn’t feature in the MCU at that time, she reprised her role in 2024’s “Deadpool & Wolverine”. In the same year, Keen showcased her skills as Jecki Lon, a beloved Jedi Padawan, in “The Acolyte” on Disney+. Regrettably, her character was taken by Qimir in that series.
