Jones was highly esteemed among American actors for his exceptional talent on both the stage and the big screen. He achieved the rare EGOT status by receiving multiple accolades: two Emmy Awards, a Grammy, an honorary Academy Award, as well as three Tony Awards during his lifetime.

His professional journey commenced on the Broadway stage during the late 1950s. Later, in 1964, he landed his debut film role as Lt. Lothar Zogg in “Dr. Strangelove.” Notable film appearances followed, such as acting alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in “Conan the Barbarian” (1982), featuring in the sports drama “Field of Dreams,” and sharing the screen with Eddie Murphy in “Coming to America.

Without a doubt, one of his most memorable performances was portraying Darth Vader in the Star Wars series. While it was actor David Prowse who brought the character to life physically during filming for the original trilogy, it was he who supplied the deep, resonant voice for the Sith Lord.

In the years following his portrayal of Darth Vader in George Lucas’s trilogy, actor Jones reprised the role for the film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and made a brief three-word appearance in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”.
